So I've been trying to get in contact with valve for the past couple of weeks and I eventually got a reply today: --- From: Erik Johnson (erik@valvesoftware.com) You may not know this sender.Mark as safe|Mark as unsafe Sent: 20 November 2007 05:240 To: <myaddress>@hotmail.com Cc: Greg Coomer (greg@valvesoftware.com); Eric Twelker (erict@valvesoftware.com) Hey Dee, We'll drop a note in the Steam news for next week pointing people to your MOD. Good luck with the release. --- I don't know how much space in the news we're going to have so look out for it next week :D
I hope that people won't get disappointed that much by lack of aircrafts. (I know that it's currently a good game but people might expect more)
Ehn, in the past during prime popularity, we at most had maybe 3-4 servers with active players.. I don't think more then maybe 2 got filled. Now, I do think we'll need more then just the Official and BSID's of course :D
Yeah, I'm seriously contemplating turning the official server into a web server to host the site and turning off the forums and wiki.
i think we should write a php script to randomly select a download from a number of mirrors so it doesnt overload any one. sound good?
I don't care about what mirror people use. They can all just use torrents. I'm worried about people getting to the site and being able to see the list of mirrors. How about you mirror my page in a sub dir and the php script will randomly send visitors to yours or mine.
Krenzo: maybe limit empiresmod.com to static pages (no php) with only the list of mirrors? You could use a HTTP proxy or something.
the first two days (the wednesday and thursday) could be downloads only. cruel if they've downloaded it it's a player in the bag. then on december 2nd or something (the friday) you could put the first servers up.
