ok it makes the squad system more complex, but why not make a special weapon slot in the squad. Like the 5th slot of a squad gives you a special weapon for your class or the squadleader can assign someone to carry that weapon. That would take some weight from the squadleaders shoulder. Because atm the squadleader should be a player that has the best oversight of his squad and can command people. With a special weapon he must also be the guy with the most skill in that class. Everyone would agree that giving the "special assaultrifle" or the 4 shooter Rocketlauncher to a less skilled player would be totaly wasted. Giving the weapon to another member of the squad would take, as said, weight from the squadleader shoulder and gives the weapon the player with the most skill. The squadleader could choose a squadmember and that member could than change his weapon in a armory/barracks. A new player for the special can only be choosen if the "carrier" dies, to prevent abuse.
Abandoned? I wouldn't know that, I stopped playing it first day after I downloaded it- only used Insurgency as a reference. And as to everyone getting a specialized weapon, you could always make it so that, when resigning squad leader position, it will wait to actually remove you from command untill you died or suicided. Solved in one go, that way a dead squad leader could still resign his position to allow a living teammate to perform the mass revive, for one.
BECAUSE I'LL BURN IN HELL BEFORE I ADMIT THAT GAME IS IN ANY WAY SUPERIOR TO EMPIRES. but seriously though. If ANYONE would know about insurgency, it's avair. So his opinion + Chahks. I'll take their word for it. Honestly, it's just another bell and/or whistle that sounds cool and I could get behind, but they make some good arguments. (Well, avair doesn't, but he DOES play that game all the time...)
I don't quite know anything about Insurgency aside of it being CSS with a greater degree of frustration, and the leader gets a better gun. I was just vaguely referencing it.
Yeah, sounds good, SLs should be able to purchase gun upgrades with squad points, I'd [usually] rather have a beefed up assault rifle than a single artillery strike, so let's do it. + the quad launcher is sexy. Fucking sexy. I'd do it's 4 holes so bad... [LOLOLOLOL JUST KIDDING] Anywoot, You have my full 100% supportz.
Well, before you go off and make these weapons, I think you guys should balance these things out. As I said earlier, it would be in better spirit to mix the weapons up for the teams. But I was thinking about a grenade launcher for maybe the grenadier? Or maybe just a homing missle. I dunno but I think its getting kinda rushed.
Hey hey my awesome idea how to balance those weapons and possible equipment. Make it buyable with squadpoints. HA AWESOME :D I KNOW
On the topic of modeling and animating them: if Krenzo gives this a try, just go simple. In internal testing, it doesnt matter how fugly the weapon models are, just give them a distinct look, and make them usable. If they prove to work, then promote them from gray shat to real model. No point wasting time on what may not work.
I like the idea of upgrade weapons with squad points But I think that squad leader should go something like this :p: + = :D WIN
Empires fanboys; Proof that most people don't want original content. Seriously, chainsaw swords would have even less of a place in Empires than um... attack pet dogs for the rifleman.
How bout the Scout gets a Rail-Sniper Cannon, and the enginner gets the SMG3 (or something). Also, the quad launcher would be unguided, or only fire 1 at a time, but have 4 shots before reloading. Leaving the squad leader position=goes to standard equipment before getting the super WinStick
Concepts first, so they know what can/cant be used or is too hard. Btw, was that "carbine" thing a G36C?
