After all those years of telling people to get modest, reasonable machines, I go out and do exactly the opposite. 4440 $194.99 - $30 A cheap Haswell quad that combo'ed with a cheap kit of RAM. Hyper 212 Plus $29.99 - $10 Cheap, but good enough for me. I needed something to keep the CPU cool because the GPU is going to be loud/hot in this tiny case. Z87E-ITX $139.99 - 15% Cheap, but feature-rich. Built-in wifi and an mSATA port. Corsair 8GB RAM $72.99 Found a surprisingly high quality 2x4GB kit that combo'ed with the CPU. I might have to cut down the heatsink to fit the CPU cooler's fan, but it'll otherwise be perfect. 290 GPU $419.99 - 10% - $20 + 3 Games From This List Excellent price for an excellent GPU. The games are a nice bonus. 240GB M500 SSD $114.99 - $5 Cheap & reliable. The mSATA version was the same price as the 2.5" version, so I went the mSATA route to keep case clutter to a minimum. Prodigy $69.99 - $10 - $10 Excellent mITX case. Cheap, mod-friendly, effective. FSP Aurum S 600W $94.99 - 10% - $10 This is probably the weakest link in my build. I have no preference in PSUs and I got one with all of the plugs that I'll need, but the final price is the cheapest it's ever been, so I suppose it's a decent deal. EDIT I'm done. $1020.42 before $50 in rebates. I need to get rid of the 3-game code.
I seriously hope that isn't the case you're getting. If you want a large but classy and quiet case, get a black NZXT Hush 2.
miniITX, ATI, small case, cheapo SSD... so, where in your post is the unreasonable performance/cooling/storage capability hidden? why u no build fat rig with high quality stuff & things? SSD: Samsung SSD SM843T Data Center Series 240GB ~ 230 EUR - will not fail for the next 6 years, no matter what shitty amount of data rewrites occur CPU: Hard topic, I guess all Haswells suffer from that shitty thermal paste stuff inside the heatspreader, so either go i7 or Intel Xeon E3-1245 v3 RAM: I prefer to max out the RAM, because prices will only rise in the distant future. I have a lot of DDR2 systems lying around, that would benefit heavily from RAM upgrades, but DDR2 has gotten ridiculously expensive since production ended. Get some DDR3 1600 Kit with 4x 8GB CL9 --> No upgrade worries in the future ~ 230 EUR Think about the PSU once you have your setup in order, compare brands with OEM lists. I ended up with a 100 EUR 750watts "Super Flower Green" after comparing manufacturers. Also, I still buy PSUs with fixed wires only. EDIT: In case you are not bound to take that case, consider this one http://www.coolermaster.com/case/test-bench/haf-xb-evo/
Unlike you guys, I didn't really have a problem with the case until I saw this: I personally don't like power buttons that aren't either near the top of the case or on the top of the case. But I presume he went for it because it's practically half off right now, and budget is everything.
Two weeks ago, that card went for >$500 because of the mining craze. I got it for less than its original $400 MSRP. The case is arriving tomorrow and it's going to be adorable. You're asking me to spend twice as much as my build for identical performance and a modest bump in longevity. I can't even
ROFL, that heavily limits where and how you can put it. looking at how my current rig is sideways infront of my feet, I would have to reach around half the tower to reach a button or port on that side. Concerning Trickster: Just buy a fucking fridge http://www.lian-li.com/en/dt_portfolio/pc-d8000/
Features include: wheels, 4 USB 3.0 ports, up to 11 fans, weighs 14 kg (30 pounds), 0.4m (W) by 0.6m (H) by 0.5m (D), and... oh yeah, 20 goddamn HDD bays
If I'm spending twice my budget, I could build two entire computers. One now and then throw the whole thing in the garbage when the first part breaks in 3-4 yrs. Then I can build an entirely new machine that will last another 3-4 yrs, except I end up with money left over because I had the opportunity to invest half of my budget for 3-4 years. Motherfucking cash flow, learn it. And I achieve the exact same longevity because your build would've only lasted 6-8 yrs anyway.
Not sure of Americun price but check out EVGA PSU's. 10 year warranty bitches.* * On the decent ones, less on the cheap ones
Get a Corsair 400R case. Corsair cases are known to be fucking awesome (I should know, I have one), and the 400R is a fucking bargain for that price. Scrap this ITX faggotry and build a real PC. And don't go fucking cheapo on the motherboard either. Get a good motherboard made by the only company that you should ever buy motherboards from, ASUS. I'm unashamedly an ASUS fanboy. Every other motherboard of every other brand I've had (including ASRock) have fucked up at some point. ASUS have never let me down. They are superior. I don't have a great deal more to contribute besides reading the logicalincrements guide which I'm sure you already did. You could probably pick out a better PSU from there, and it should tell you what RAM/CPU to go for. But seriously, cut out the kiddie case, it's fucking dumb.
