if namechanging is such a problem then install the "also known as" plugin so it will show other player used nicks
I was just looking for that plugin, is it a SM plugin? Do you have the link.. I am not sure I will add it, I just couldn't find one that was working in SM plugins, so curious which one you are referring too.
Isn't the VIPER server the one with the !profile command which brings up their steam community page? Why not just use that to check if it's someone you should recognise. All BSID members should be in the BSID steam group, for example.
VIPER, Nachos, and I think even G4TC all have it. Theowningone wrote that plugin for our server a long time ago, and it's been very useful ever since. I even ran into it on some servers for other games after he released it. Almost a must-have, imho.
I think it's a good idea, but... the problem is, sometimes a specific side has implications that may make me want to chose one or the other for totally legitimate reasons. Escort is the most obvious example. Sometimes you want to play offense, sometimes you want to play defense. Players should be able to choose. Even on other maps, sometimes you want to use cannons, sometimes you want to use missile; and BE vs NF is generally this choice. I think a voteshuffle option (shuffle the teams and restart the match with everyone on the new teams) would be a much better idea. I mean, yeah, restarting the match can be annoying... but if the vote threshold is set high enough, it'll only pass when nobody is really enjoying the match anyway. And along the same lines, how about a vote-round-restart option? Sometimes someone screws something up early for stupid reasons (like, protracted confusion over who should comm); it's good to at least have an option to call a do-over, rather than forcing people to play a round that has probably been ruined.
we have this its called "rock the vote", which changes the map you can then "nominate" the current map, and vote for it
If this is still being considered, please don't add this. First, there are some maps that I prefer one side over the other, regardless of teams. While don't mind people who are new, in fact, I have had several very good experiences with new players recently on canyon, I had a new guy manage to take the dam and nf stat by himself, I prefer to have at least a few (2 or 3 in a 12-20 man team) people who know what they are doing to help move and lead the team. I do have a problem with individual players who just outright refuse to do what they are told, not only by the com, but by the rest of the team. They clearly know how to do what is being asked of them, but they still decide not to help there team. In an attempt to keep my issues out of the rest of the game, I try to join the other team. I realize this is probably not the best place to be asking this, but if you do decide to add an auto join, will you also add some way of reporting people who are not effectively helping/listening to the team, ie people who go and stay scout at main with a sniper rifle despire being told to change class. This relys a lot on what the server admins can see, but it just needs the reporter, the person being reported, why and a timestamp. The admins can then go back and look at the logs or whatever and take it from there.
Aren't you prevented from nominating recently-played maps (including the current one?) Or is the current one specifically allowed? Even if it works, that seems a bit less intuitive to players... which is a problem when you're trying to get 30+ people to vote on something. "Restart the match Y/N?" is easier for them to grasp than shouting "RTV, THEN VOTE FOR THIS ONE!" at them.
The results are very close, and since stacking seemed to lessen and many feel players would not like being forced to auto join a team, I will hold off in adding it. But if it becomes a major problem again I will. Thank you all for your votes and feedback.
