How about just 4 captains 2 teams. 20v20. We may have field commander and ref dropper. 11v11, you can't even have a full squad if the map has 3 lanes.
I was thinking about a mini Christmas league today. But not nearly as complex as you guys are suggesting. Realistically, it's based off the old Empires League pugs, but with a few changes. Essentially, everyone signs up. I take one team, FN takes the other. We pick out our teams, and that's our team for all the matches we play. Each week we play 2 rounds on a map. I'm not going to set anything in motion until I actually know if I'm working over the Christmas period or not, but if I'm not, we might have time to do 3 matches or so at a rate of 1 per week. Also, no offence intended to anyone, but I don't really think there's anyone suitable besides myself or FN. It's pretty much only us 2 that are going to be able to form teams with any hope of some kind of coordination between them. Anyone else is going to have problems with people not obeying commands or disrupting shit, not to mention being vastly inexperienced in competitive games. There's no point even having a discussion regarding captains.
You two definitely have most people that would listen to you. You have EPIC. FN have Consortium. By have, I mean they 100% won't fuck with you. This is the most important stuff, even more important than your tactical/strategical sense.

P.S. please no more serpentine. It just doesn't work. Especially if Trickster picks first. What would make it really interesting is if captains drafted for each other. (Reverse Captain's Mode?????) The only argument is that it would just make the league less fun.
