RC 10 is here. It has a few fixes, not much. The ML turrets are fixed so maybe Rogue Whatever his name is will get off my ass about needing an emergency patch. The main purpose is to try out the client authoritative movement stuff. Luckily, the code was flexible enough to make it turn on/off with a cvar. That way, when the cries of "halp! I'm stuck" get too loud, I can turn it off. I'd like it if everyone could get on tonight to stress the server. That way we can see how much it helps. http://www.empiresmod.com/1_08_was_here_the_whole_time/empires_v108_rc10.exe This is a small patch so as long as you're able to play RC9 you can install on top and be fine. Requires RC7 and 9 if you don't have any of the previous files. Whoops, the installer still says RC 9 when first opening, ignore it. ------------------------- Version 1.08 Beta Build 124/RC 10 Changes: -Added: experimental client-side authoritative movement mode which is switched on via "emp_sv_client_auth_movement" convar -Modified: vehicles are required to be going at least 10 MPH before they begin dealing damage to enemy players, 20 MPH is lethal -Modified: when spectating a vehicle, the chase camera will sit at a farther distance -Fixed: squad panel not accepting commands after having joined a squad in a previous map -Fixed: issues with missile turrets -Fixed: spectator camera roll angle getting stuck on non-zero angle -Fixed: walls showing health meter to all classes when fully built (should hide when fully built)
Probably not, being able to hit is usually the bigger problem. No matter how awesome you are at coding, you can't cure lag.
Sorry about that Krenzo, I didn't mean it the way you seem to have taken it. To me, disfunctional ML's just seemed like one of those important things since it sets one team at a big disadvantage (like the BE VF collision mesh). I'll shut up in future
Woot great. Now the hard decisiton. Go strait home to download or go to my friends house when her parents arnt home... hehe
The vehicles are still the major source of lag. Screw this. I'm gonna go finish up vehicle client-side movement.
If we could set up a time where we all can join, that worked pretty well in the PUGs or whatever it was called. We should be able to get 30 people on.
yeah I agree, let's set a date to stress test the patch ... a saterday evening/sunday evening would be nice or a week day.
As krenzo decided that the main benefit for client-side would come from the vehicles, I assume the stress test will have to be whenever he finishes that.
