Massive lag

remember when i got accused of ddosing a server? wasn't that lulzy

 

So the DDoS attacks are affecting two of the most popular servers and hence forcing players to join the only other server that can handle over 50 players, which coincidentally is claimed by some to be hosted by the person behind the attacks.

What do?

Personally I see only a few ways out:

1) Wait it out. Hopefully he'll reach puberty someday and move on.

2) Go on a griefing spree on this server. Not very useful because you're the only one who's going to stop playing after getting a ban. Life returns to normal for everyone else once the people who think that this is a good idea are gone, albeit with fewer players.

3) Wait for the linux box or whatever it is to be finished since that's supposed to make servers immune to DDoS (not too good at networking stuff, deduced this from reading various discussions). Meanwhile, we ignore the problem and play on this server despite the complete absence of plugins like rtv and nominate.

4) Obtain proof, speak to ISPs.

PS No rage and whines please. All these do is cause thread locks.

PPS The DDoSer may be reading this too.

what kind of specs would you need to host a 60 player game anyways? We talking about a gamers rig or just a plain standard computer with a great up/down connection?

If these threads discussing DDoSing keep going to shit like this the mod team will just start locking the threads, as far as I know the server owners are dealing with the problem responsibly, we don't need players going out and griefing, counterdosing or trolling their forums.

Stop lowering yourselves to their level.

Going onto his server today, it appears that whatever team pcwizdan or that sadistic guy is on always loses because players grief.

Good CPU, good connection possible a good amount of RAM. Anyways they say their server has these specs:
