Meh. We'll see how it looks ingame. As for now, I'm going to leave those 22 frames for what they are :p Making a 3D animation out of one 2D still with completely no reference points (it's all white) is hard :D
"Establishing battlefield uplink..." sounds so much cooler :D You don't want too much text there, cause you don't know how long the screen will be there for. There's nothing more annoying than a paragraph disappearing half-way through.
Yup, I'm going to make yet another thread shortly asking what people think should be put over the top. Exerpts of stories, tips, random facts etc.
Establishing Battlefield Uplink is so damn cool though, you gotta have that. it's very good beerdude, nice. but i agree about the wobblyness. anyway we can have a 100% smooth image? it would either need 400 frames or to be done in flash. or even, done in flash, then converted to giff. something good like that.
I'll work on the wobblyness tomorrow. A completely smooth image (approx. 400 frames) is: a) a LOT of work b) probably about 50 megs big. I've worked with animated VTF files before, and they get big real quick. EDIT: Oh, and I'm running firefox, which runs gifs at double the speed. Guess it looks more fluent for me :p
Pretty awesome, nice job its wobbly because you have too many frames, and it doesnt rotate flat. You don't really need those 90 degrees frames tbh, it would probably look better if you got rid of those.
heres an example still wobbly, but the rest is because it doesnt rotate flat, which it should as there is no depth visible, only a contour and it doesnt look too good the way it moves. In any case, you had 2 many frames at the 90 degrees angles, you had 5 of it being almost flat - flat - almost flat, and 6 of it being from almost wide - wide - almost wide While there were only 7 frames total inbetween (thats 3 frames in the first half, and 4 in the second) I know mine is really worse lol, but jst had to try to do something about the rotation animation, yours does look more realistic when its wide a bit longer, but it almost seems to slow down when it goes flat. here made this quick playblast of how it would look when its flat edit: also may I note that the playblast is only 23 frames, where yours is 22.(yes the numbers in my first few comments didn't add up, I forgot I already deleted a few frames when I counted it :p), a full rotation shouldn't have an even number of frames, that means theres either 1 frame too many, or too little, as the end and start are the same frame (or for the wise asses, somewhere in between). So yeh I dno, maybe you could make use of this animation?
Double posting ftw. Anyway, with RPG's help I managed to dewobble it. <--- NEW |||||| OLD --> I also used the original resolution, so it's bigger now.
That's cool! I have a few things I would like to see in it though... 1) Put the text back in :p 2) Instead of the black background, could you have a static-y one? Kinda like the 'untuned tv' snowstorm. 3) Add a flashing light on top of the radar stalk thingy. Keep up the good work! :D
