My thought is that if people have changed their key settings, they will have looked through the controls list, and have seen what they have bound the keys to anyway. Hence they would know what key they have bound to what, and so they can ignore it. I'll see if I can change it though, if you'd prefer. It may not be so easy, i didn't make backups of the tga's i used.
well, if you need to at least put in thats its the default key ebing referred to. people may think that Empires changes the text to match key changes like some games do, and leave players confused.
can it be made so that it actually fills in what your key is? so if your default is W for use, then it says "W" with things like sabotage, it's not obvious even from looking at (and changing) your controls that "use" does that.
Free buttsechs and distinct lack of BF2 copyright infringement 512X512, 22 frames (you won't believe how much I've had to think about the red light on/off and dots per frame)
Beerdude, that's cool, but is there any chance that as the animation goes around the light "fades in" and out again, still with a small pause where it isn't there.
Ok, I think I'm almost done now! I need some testers to test it though please Apply within! or on IRC. Also, it turns out that I can in fact have different images for each map, so hurrah! How many would you like? Bear in mind that each image will be half a meg in size, and there are 16 maps. I may be able to get the size down a bit though, so watch this space.
I'd say 2 per map, one static shot and one g-modded up action version (in different locations of the map, obviously). I think VTF's are quite compression friendly, so they shouldn't be too big when archived. It's just a shame the source engine can't use JPG textures
I would like to have 3 but it depends on that is there any other good quality image format which Source could understand. Like TGA, I think it is quite ok or are you using it at the moment? Edit: And does Source support GIFs and TIFFs? I don't think it supports TIFFs but I don't know about GIFs, though gif files are limited to 256 colors so I think they would reduce the quality of pictures quite much.
What about having different downloads, you could have a standard scene one, then, you could download different backgrounds, such as BE or NF battlescenes, depending on your preferences.
The Source engine only supports VTF files. Any possible sprays with an alpha channel or whatever in them are automatically converted to VTF files before being used. VTF files can also be animated, but unlike GIF they have a fixed FPS (about 0.1 per second, I think). They also grow rather gigantic when you make them animated.
