I didn't post this earlier because I can't back it up with fact and I didn't want to sound like a jerk, but some kid just stole my shirt and I'm really angry so I'm gonna say it. This is a stupid idea and I've always hated it. Empires isn't a Frankenstein made up of the best parts of other games. It has to be coherent and focussed. I think jumpjets spreads the game thin, takes away from its core competencies. I swear I would kill every kid here, but Olla's buddies in the Swiss army are stationed outside, and I figure they would stop me. I'm still angry.

Well, sorry about your shirt. And this idea was meant for after A LONG while, seeing as how it's meant for after aircraft are implemented. I also have a feeling that, although you violently feel that Empires should be focused and it won't make sense for this in the game, once you see aircraft wizzing overhead in the now-vacant skies, everything will change. Right now, it's basically like "Well boys, this is it. Not too bad." like the game could almost work without aircraft. Once aircraft is in, it will completely change all the strategies. Now there is resistance to arty whoring and turret spamming. So, when you think of aircraft flying all around the battlefield, I don't really see a JumpJet here or there out of place. All I see is a NF jet colliding with a BE engy/scout mid-air, and laughing my ass off. Be sure to get your shirt back.
When you say gimicky, like unoriginal? Or too iconic? Because that's understandable... but we can always invent a new time of thing. Who says it neccesarily has to be JUMPjet, technically this could cover any form of personal infantry transportation. You know, you could just post an alternative instead of "No."
I see what you are saying... well, I guess it really just couldn't work... I just wanted to see if there was a way to add in a new, innovative thing that didn't invlove talking about nerfing something else or balancing the game for it.

I have said this WAY to many fucking times, but that was because the last thread was labeled "Jetpacks" and I can understand the confusion. But I clearly labeled this thread JUMP JETS So, why don't you take your completely non-thread topic post, and place it in the jetpack thread. Oh and btw, THERE IS A DIFFRENCE BETWEEN JUMP JETS AND JET PACKS. THAT'S WHY THEY ARE 2 DIFFRENT WORDS. I'm not even trying to push the idea anymore, but that is just pathetic. btw. Jn. I said i was confused because a "jump jet" was a real thing and i was confused between them because a jump jet is another name for a jetpack so i thought he was referring to that. How am i annoying? I have never seen you in the game
Oh noes... I can just imagine a team of those camping on top of a building >.< No matter what class it is... It will be like Spiderman... but in the middle of a Breondi/NF base... A couple of em leaping from building to building... And if they have some way of demolishing a building... ouch... And by the way, if you say "Thats why aircraft are in :D" When was the last time you saw a plane take out a single infantry unit? Could be funny...
All people would use those types of equipment for would be glitching on top of maps, or places where you arent supposed to go. Like in escort, you can just jump right up and walk to the last flag and no one can shoot you unless NF has some, which they dont. In the green valley map (I forget the name) they would just jump on top of a big rock, then on top of the huge hills and sit there with grenades and a nice little suprize for anyone passing underneath them. As long as no one can do something like that I think it would be damn fine. And cool.
Don't be so angry at the newb, its a very understnadable mistake... technically a jumpjet and a jetpack are the same thing, except for the jumpping part... Also, No, this would not cause exploits that hadn't been caused by aircraft... could also work similar to a parachute when you eject -Sheepe
But I think Bonjangl3s explained it about ten and a half thousand times, and just when the discussion was getting geared toward what it was intended to be, this kid comes along and shoots it with a .50cal.
