doesnt need to be dynamic when you add only the good maps (around 20)

Maps should always be chosen based on the amount of players in the server.

I've only played like 10-15 games of HoN ever though D: And I only played about 4-5 in the closed beta.

HON is kinda boring now I want dota2. Best thing about WC3 DOTA is you could play DOTA for like a couple games then if you had a shitty game you could go play a random tower defense or sheep tag game for fun. I really hope DOTA2 is moddable. TBH I never played anything other than custom maps on WC3. I literally bought the game just to play TDs and DOTA.

I liked the wc3 dota because the players had anger management problems and I would change my name to "open" and they would wait for ever until someone joined, then when they found out I was a player they would start game and I would leave at like 2 seconds.

Dota is shit along with it's many thousand clones.

I was so hopeful for HoN, and it's up and coming map editor.

Then dev's are like DERP, no, you can only make some parts of maps and never play them. Neither can anyone else. EVER.

    Sad panda.

Yeah, SC2 has loads of game modes too, it's pretty cool. I play a lot of Footmen wars, which is awesome.

The only reason I don't like playing with complete newbs is their commanding. If you have a whole team full of idiot rifleman with half a brain, you can still win if your commander is competent. As long as there is a decisive authority, you can win. So many of the newbies try to command, and that is fine, but 9/10 times it ends in failure. I want the option to go to a server with competent players and a commander that knows what they're doing.

the issue just is, herding a bunch of new players often turns out to be so frustrating that it makes you ragequit. its basically griefing on an unbannable level ...

I think it would be a great idea.

I also think we should put more effort in to actually training people on how to play properly. I join the training servers sometimes and it seems like not many people enjoy helping people! What ever happened to being a nice person :)

If noobs could start training noobs to not be so nooby the noobs would start actually getting good at being a better noob.

I'm sorry, but, you seemed to say "noobs training noobs."

"First thing, pick Scout. Then get health regen. Then try command."

    Did you mean something else?

Too many elitist veterans who think they're the shit. There needs to be more clans that trains noobs.

When did any player reach the point where they don't have to practice/train anymore? One would give up trying to get to the hard part of Empires skills (anything beyond individual talent) and just use hacks and exploits to differentiate themselves from other egoterans. I would imagine that they will end up not playing the game seriously, making excuses that they are too good to play the game as intended.

    But I digress.

Nothing wrong with a dedicated clan to teach others.

    BLL - Brenodi Learners League.

And just for lols we can have scrims with the other clans.

a newbie pug would be helpful.

take 2 long term players with basic commanding abilities (so actually you could take anyone) and put them on each side.
both choose a research path and strategy that keeps the game going for a while, so no risky shit like early rushes.
dont carry empires90210 bullshit into the pug, no flaming of other clans, players or discussions about what youd change how.

the only thing the new players should agree in advance is to actually listen to the commander.

if theres only a few noobs you could add more vets as squadleaders for example.

only premise for vets is a microphone and a chatty personality. i think any single one of us could be nice person for 40minutes ...

It's situations like this where I really wish commanders had more control of the team.

Whether it's designating squad makeups/leaders to designating buildable chassis types/armor/engines/weapons.

But sadly this will never happen...

Was ELC ever brought back? I can't tell because my server list wont work. :(
