Is any engine worth researching instead of coolant?

Personally, I don't see the point in any engine except for coolant. coolant basically makes your weapons twice as useful and powerful. and it makes you faster.

all the others do is make you faster, in different forms.

 

On large, wide maps 3phase is useful. Other than that I don't see point in getting any other engine.

 

3phase is good for the 1 in 92790253 people who are good with ninja jeeps, coolant is easily the best for everyone else.

 

If there would be an engine that has the turbo mode every ninja jeep user would have it, but i would use it to get away from enemies when they are about to catch me.

 

Bio Diesel eliminates or severely reduces stalling. I've been full heat bar with two heavies bearing down on me and running full speed back to base, no prob. It's also faster than coolant and has a decent heat capacity. I prefer it on Escort because those damn MLs don't do much to stop me rushing the flag.

Who actually uses fission? I see the other types about once every 2-3 games after 3phase or coolant, but still haven't seen fission used well yet. It has the biggest acceleration and (speed?) of them all. If you're going on a ninja run, put fission on cause you don't have to worry about heat. But for anything that has a few MGs or more, fission will overheat you before you can exhaust even one chaingun.

 

I'd say 3 phase and coolant are about equal. arty and lts with 3 ftw. Just stop holding down fire and wait till you have a shot.

 

When you look into scripts you will see that engines aren't exactly what their description says.

Some people like to go fast by using that, I dont because I spin out like hell, problem is that if your hit one time by a tank or a nuke or arty or something your garunteed dead....or at least flashing red.

 

what is 3phase going to save you? 5 seconds of your time MAX? It might be good for rushing past defences wih your jeep, but who actually does that?

 

It's also good for running circles around enemy artillery or rushing behind an enemy tank faster than they can hit you.

3-phase DOES have it's uses. An LT with 3-phase is deadly in spite of the heat problems it can suffer.

 

actually, biodesil is good for death apcs, it lests them circle the heavy so it cant aim.

 

I sometimes use 3phase jeeps on money :p

 

Gas turbine is quite good although some people seem to prefer 3 phase over it. I find the smaller vehicles too hard to drive with 3 phase. My personal preference is Bio Diesel since it enables you to run even when overheated. I'm that much of an coward. :p

but 3phase is cool ( apart from cocking about on an empty server ) , they can also outrun msl turrets, usfull for ninja's

 

I almost always use 3phase on escort. It's a bit more tricky to drive now but still possible. Especially I love to see NF panic when arty goes behind their lines. :>

 

I got the fission reactor once just so I could put it on the jeep and say I had a nuclear powered jeep. It was fun, but I think 3phase is faster.

 

Nuclear has better acceleration, so techincly it can climb steeper hills... think dust...

But actually, each engine has its own use, just 3 phase is better with most people's playing style. The APC of DOOM runs on a 3 phase because its faster than advanced coolant. LT runs on advanced though. My heavies tend to run biodiesel though. Because most other asses run plasma rounds.
