Test starting soon, instructions: IF YOU PARTICIPATED IN THE LAST TEST, REDOWNLOAD THESE SCRIPTS, THERE HAVE BEEN CHANGES 1) Download: http://a.pomf.se/fnfzjo.rar 2) Backup: Empires/scripts 3) Extract: The rar should replace all conflicting files, it has some new models materials and sounds, but these won't replace anything, only the scripts will replace files, so backup your scripts! 4) Join: 184.154.117.106:27108 (Viper test) 5) Password: "testing432" Any issues send me a message: http://steamcommunity.com/id/Empty_Shadow/ Known Issues: NFSMG3 doesn't have a material in 3rd person Several ammo icons are incorrect
This playtest was much smaller which was disappointing. Response has been mainly positive, and I fixed the glaring issues (hmgs and smg1s being ridiculous) so I will be making an effort to get these shipped with next patch. All I need to do is fix kill icons and SMG3 materials, then the rest is up to the dev team as a whole to decide. Some people have balked at it but most of those people either didn't lilsten to the quick overviews I gave, or didn't stick around long enough to actually learn the new dynamics. I don't expect everyone to like it, but the general consensus of everyone who hung around for more than 10 minutes is the changes are in a good direction. Scripts are still available at the link specified so if you missed a test and want to play with them go ahead. Honestly the only way I think I can get these truly balanced is to get them in a release and tweak from there, I have some things on my questionable list but with the size of the playtests (small) I haven't been able to really get a feel for some weapons.
Empty - I like what you did. Purpose based units, that drive you towards selecting a unit for a purpose rather than just one OP Engineer. I do like that engineers are decently matched vs riflemen up close, if they get the draw on the rifleman. The Engineer doesn't just die quickly because he sees a rifleman. Riflemen are very powerful if they get the bead on you and can kill multiple units with one clip. Grens of course are still very powerful if you are a good enough player to be able to master this class. New weapons are cool and even though a Scout can use a rapid fire shotgun it is not OP. A scout or engineer with shot gun up close, rifleman or gren can dispatch the scout who dared to show himself quickly. I think this will result in more fun gameplay with a good spread of units, not just everyone playing one OP unit.
Uhm, Are we supposed to use the weapon_emp_imp_hmg.txt or the weapon_emp_imp_hmg - Copy.txt? The Copy one looks like the right one to me.
I put them in the dev forum and gave them to candles to add to the SVN before I left on holidays but nobody did anything with them while I was away (not a big deal) I'm working with beerdude (probably today after I wake up) and I'll get an SVN account so I can commit the changes and get them onto the next update (or more likely release it as an update in and of itself).
I kept forgetting to ask Spartacus about putting them in. Should be fine releasing at the end of the week.
