nah, don't have the time or patience for doing it. Just static prop, not even properly uv'd. Just concept that it is a viable smd. It does have a rough collision mesh, very rough. Actually would hate to see this replace the current afv. Only level of tank where nf has the profile advantage. NF heavy is the one that really needs a new model and better handling, the whale has gotten worse recently.
Oh wow, i didnt notice this thread is THIS old. I actually remember this now. Now thats a bona fide Micro Tank
But that's not even close to what our other vehicles look like.. Wouldn't it look odd in game ? But if that's what your looking for then what about this http://tf3dm.com/3d-model/us-apc-24406.html
It probably wouldn't be that small if such a chassis was going to be implemented. For reference, the first post has some respectable mockups.
too bad that mercedes tank doesnt fit empires, i kinda like its shape i mean it could fit brenodi but their stuff is too real. but maybe its only the leopard, with buildings it would work.
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????? I mean, they did develop some sort of adaptive camouflage (sans one important colour they had problems with), but hows that related to the chassis? Also, i like the back turret look, but you guys really paid no attention of how that would work in the game. With a config like that, youd end up with a giant deadzone in the front. Now i think the current 'i can shoot my threads out' model is complete bullshit, but you might want to ceom up with something that can kill a turret thats 2 meters away without sinking the barrel into the hull.
I don't think the argument "It looks so different to everything we already have." doesn't hold anymore. Otherwise we wouldn't have taken the 50's automobile NF medium tank.
If you just go for infantry support with completely impractical armor then maybe. I know I should have said something earlier, but eh... Also it probably fits more towards actually trying to refit a car or truck to a tank.
well, tastes differ, fortunately. if you want to talk about impractical design, we could scrap nf as a whole and half of brenodi. but empires isnt meant to be realistic, not even semi realistic. its completely fictional (what you call comical) and doesnt have to abide to our technical advances. maybe on planet empires they are just stuck inbetween something similar to ww1 and 2. a lot of those tanks only make sense because they have been real, but from our todays, technically higher developed PoV, they aint much more then a waste of iron. also, and fortunately again, a vast majority of players have no real clue about details of tanks. we see images, we see tanks in movies and games, we even might see the one or the other real one from the outside, but contrary to empires founding father, i doubt that many have a real military background (i was infantry, like i usually am in empires, they didnt give me a rpg-mortar with more rokits i could ever carry, a shitload of universal anti-infantry-anti-tank mines and shotgun pistol though, imagine my disappointment )
I get you there. And I would agree that game mechanics keep players hooked to a game, once they are on it. If you really like how a game plays, you don't care about the looks of it. But for attracting new players, I'd say that looks and graphics make at least 60% of the decision.
