I'd actually like to see one server like the old 1.0x BSID R&D server. It would be clearly marked as expermental ofc.
Beerdude and I used the BSID R&D to test 1.08 balance before the forum RC releases. Constant playtesting is far more efficient, so I'd prefer to see real playtest rounds again, instead of for instance pugs. When the forum RC releases were ongoing, the R&D server basically had the 1.08 balance while we were still at 1.07.
i wonder what the superawesome achievement of steam was, if you still have to send shit to valve - what if you update weekly? will they commit that for you in that pace?
Theoretically yes, but it seems like everytime we manage to release something everyone loses interest for a few months until we pick up speed again.

Lattenbrecher yes. I'll stop there though. And yes, the idea of script manifest was so we could have an R&D server, but so more than one person could do it. An R&D server needs script manifest to work, otherwise, script inconsistencies and shit.
with our playercounts you could have a full live test too, it wouldnt matter. those people that keep up with numbers usually are registered on the forums anyway and changes will be communicated within a few games as long as you dont change everything at once or daily ... this could fix a lot things for balance and youd have a quick enough response time.
Again, this is literally the entire reason everyone wanted script manifest and it's what all the fuss was about, this is the entire argument right here. It was mainly intended for a passworded server that we we could use it on. To recreate some pug days from 1.08, which I was never actually around for. Idk, maybe Brutos is feeling nice today?
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. And the options are there for server owners that run this game to use. Maybe some of you that are childishly whining and complaining should consider what other posts in this thread imply: That maybe the server your complaining about was created so that group can have fun...the way they want to. You can like it, or not like it. Join in - or stay away. It's that simple. If this server you're talking about is doing so well, and it seems like that is the real problem (which isn't at all the server owners problem at all it's YOUR problem aside from being childish and selfish), maybe it's a good thing and you should give it a chance.

The other posts are explicitly stating that TheOutCasts server sucks for having terrible settings and giving new players a bad experience in Empires mod. I wouldn't be surprised if the server was populated for a bit because people wanted to try out the retarded gameplay. I also wouldn't be surprised if the server dies off (if hasn't already) and everyone goes back to a normal server. That's your friendly reminder so you don't waste your money/time on a fucked up server. Also, contact trickster, [viper]vicki, or I if you want to fix the SM parachute exploit. If we ever get a bigger community, it would be nice to have a server section on the forums so owners, admins, and scripters can share their stuff..
