Today I was playing RC13 and my comp crashed as the map was changing, as happens occasionaly with all Source games because Valve doesn't know how to code (sorry, but disparaging Valve is how I get through my frequent crashes without killing anybody), and now I get this message: Your version does not match the servers. Please restart the game. I'm gonna try reinstalling RC13 to see if maybe my game got corrupted when I crashed...
Same thing is happening here for the past 2 days: Reinstalled Steam, Empires 1.08 RC7 through RC13, restarted Steam, restarted PC, nothing helps.
I just started getting this problem today. It used to be that whenever the server switched to emp_glycencity it would tell me that my map didn't match the server's, but now it tells me that my version doesn't match, even though I was just playing RC13 yesterday and today.
Is there a way I can tell it to join the server from a shortcut on my desktop? So I can just double click to join...
Try changing the game directory...hmm that's not the word You'll end up adding 215 to the end of your game files or something. I'm not too certain what it's called or how to do it, but this muttering will hopefully Jog someone smarter's memory and they'll be able to help you. I used to have this problem with 1.07
I can, and should, blame Valve when things stop working after they ninja-sneak an "update" to steam. Confirmed. Now I can definitely blame Valve for another shitty update.
Should we sticky this, so people who have this problem can get it sorted, with out making another thread?
It happened to me too, once it changed to glycen. Could there be any problems with the map, perhaps? I was playing fine untill it got changed to that map.
