This one doesn't really seem that bad. In fact he does a pretty good job talking about the mod and not talking about his own personal bias on the state of the mod. There's no unnecessary name plugging or anything except maybe near the end. I wouldn't bother with this one.
It's sad how somebody we hate and spreads lies on a daily basis has done more for this game than I, or anyone else has in terms of advertizing. Well there is no such thing as bad publicity, even if its from a loon who lives in a basement. Lets see how many people come to play. I am also kinda pissed how he didn't mention that I almost got him arrested.
Trickster - I know you've done a lot to manage the ***** relationship that has gone bad, but that was a very decent review. I just wish he had discussed the many layers and depth of the game. Most games are very superficial - empires is much deeper. I don't agree that the engine needs to change. Regardless of what I've read from a developer that the look needs to change, I could care less that a tree blows in the wind, or the texture of water. The gameplay is more important and if that is ruined to improve looks then the game will suffer. Regardless of the source - Good Job Empires Mod ! Oh - you do need a publicist. It boggles my mind why all the servers are not full every night.

When people talk about moving to a new engine, I don't think pretty graphics are the main concern.(though they would be appreciated.) Most of the time it is about wanting to add stuff gameplay wise(see aircraft) and not being able to because source engine is pretty bad with the open maps empires has. I have also used hammer for a couple of hours at one point and agree that it is ass. That's important because empires really needs more diverse maps and not many want to bother with hammer. I do wonder how many people will read that discussion though. I've never heard of the site before.
neither have i, but i did notice a late night game of 30+ players last night. last night by the way was a monday night. the last 4-6 or so monday nights we've had zilch for a playercount.
It was okay except for the blackhole part. Would be nice if he also explained the gameplay of Empires.
