or you could take the sabre/scimitar route with a curved blade. but anyway, your brenodi sword still needs some more nice for the handle. the crossguard, which actually looks much like a tsuba, is fine, the but the handle itself needs stuff wrapped around - its called tsuka-ito for japanese swords.
Nah, just practice at the moment. And I didn't want to use wraps, I just like the hexagon pattern way too much. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7pxgrpyPXF2ME1na1FwWVhwS3M/edit?usp=sharing
in comparison to the length of the blade the handle also looks a bit thick, but that might just be the camera angle, obviously it cannot be thinner then the tang. not sure about the hexes, they are definately a lot better then no detail, but its a matter of preference i assume. edit: but i should stop thinking realistic
Does this look better? https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7pxgrpyPXF2QnVRWkl5Q3RsbUk/edit?usp=sharing Gonna push the file on my drive, so I can continue at home.
Meh, don't even bother with that. That detail isn't going to get on a low poly anyway and it won't influence a bake. Because remember kids: Never bake with split normals!
Yeah, if this ever gets into the game, it's going to be covered with a hand at that place, why bother putting in details that you are going to remove later anyway? Combine this with a pistol and you have an awesome pistol/melee combination.
How long is that thing anyway? Edges make it look definately like a choppy longsword, but it doesnt seem to be long enough for that.
Just to blow the dust of this thread and actually update you people of my capabilities, I'm going to show you some not directly Empires related stuff. Model created and sculpted in Blender, textures made in Substance Designer (with slight baking help from xNormal) PBR and Spec., Gloss sets of textures, completely game ready You can see the model fully in 3D on Sketchfab.
