The main thing that bugs me about ninjas arent the ninjas themself, but the fact that people consider katanas a typical ninja weapon.

Assassins. They dress like perfectly normal people, and do perfectly normal things right up to the point when they bash someone's head in with a carpenter's hammer. Wearing black just gets you even more easily noticed, and do you even know how long katanas are?

It's just much easier to dress up like someone else, and kill your target when no one is paying attention. If they manage to escape unscathed, it's usually because they took the time to plan ahead.

dark blue or dark green or dark of just about any color will hide you better than pitch black. You can see a pitch black object in the distance on a dark night, just like you can see the outline of the pitch black moon against the dark blue sky.

 

back in the old days over in asia i think youd prefer camo that hides you in darkness.

and when i say its dark then i mean its dark, not a modern age city lighted up all over the place.

 

If you turned the light off and let your eyes adjust you'd see someone wearing pitch black if they tried to.

 

Pitch black isn't the best camo to wear is night dark situations.

Anyways, It is very hard to differentiate human figures that are not moving in the dark. Its even harder when the ninja's target has been standing guard for hours watching the same area for the whole time.

 

Empty is correect about seeing the pitch black. It is in stark contrast to normal darkness.

Also, there are stars and the moon most times when you aren't in the city. Moonlight can be VERY bright, and make it almost normal visibility.
