I'm kind of disappointed a haven't gotten an invite yet Anyways, this sounds like a great idea. Hopefully you execute on it better than I did.
I had an invite and accepted, but then had to leave the group because I failed to see ALL of the officers.
That would be the testers whenever the devs call a playtest. Although it would be pretty good to have a 20v20 to test balance someday.
No. It's a first come, first serve system. If 41 people show up, I'll be pretty surprised. If it grows to be 60 - 70+ people who want to play in each game, we'll add another server.
The Empires community is already so small and now people come up with this elitist crap. This reserved slot thing is arrogant and condescending against every other Empires player. If the humiliating treatment newbies and causal player already have to endure on the servers isn't enough, now players can be kicked because they don't belong to "elitist" steam group. Way to go to promote Empires. +1 Karma
It's just a different way of handling player authentication (the PUG used a password). The PUG wasn't open to newbs, and neither is this. Sorry if you don't like that skilled players are getting to have fun one day a week.
I understand where dragoons coming from. At least with the pugs it was passworded so the newbs could all join and populate a different server with this they will just have to hope there is another populated server for them to join when they get kicked out. It's seems like you want good people playing but you don't want to lose your newb player base in case it fails to have a good turn out. I personally think the player base is too small to do shit like this. Just like the stats.. And btw every match I've played in the past couple days since the stats have been hidden have been great. People were actually being the classes we needed to help win. None of them ended in 5 mins.
This is just for a couple of hours or so? So why don't we password it as well? We might as well, just to let the newbies know something is going on. You have to be in the steam group to know the password... Or was the system going to be by steam ID or something, and autokick anyone else? That will work, if we can make a message that tells them that its a short private event when they get kicked, they'll all just go to the learning server, I don't see the big deal.
