Empires Mod 2.0 Press Release (site)

I watched the trailer again and it for real needs not so sad and melancholy music.

For me that music makes it not look good. Trailer needs more action like feeling because Empires isn't a sad mod where everything is destroyed around you and the world's last leavings are depending on you and you have lost many very close persons to you and so on.

It needs something more action packed music to make it sound Empires. Empires is about action, not crying yourself to sleep.

i see where weedy is coming from with this..

music has the power to make people feel a certain way with out them even knowing it.. this music could make images of empires relate to depressing feelings... but then agian.. i doubt many people will be paying attention to music.. shit i doubt many people will even watch it and think about anything except woah... cool tanks

 

Don't underestimate the power of sounds or music.

In my opinion in every video the vision is 50% of the video and sounds and maybe music on it are the rest 50%.

I replaced the tank death, repair sparks, prone, and glycencity pictures with better ones at Lithium's bidding. Good pics, lith.

 

and the new glycen city shot reminds me how much I want cl_drawhud 0 taken out of cheat protection.

I could allways cut off the GUI bits but then people will complain that its not widescreen. Oh well, still better than the mundane shot that was there before.

 

Yeah taking screens really isn't easy. When you see the possibly most awesome situation you've ever seen in empires, you can't take a screenshot because the whole screen is filled with chatter, death messages and a minimap.

I think the one with 3 colors might be better than the one you're using now Evan, however that might just be me.
I also like that screenshot (from that same topic) with the blue effect, but from very close, so very detailed.

 

I don't think the sabotage screen shot works very well. I think a better shot would be of the scout's view sabotaging with the bar showing.

 

Anybody got a screen of that?

It looks nice, but honestly, its a little bland. The content is great, but the overall appearance just doesn't jump out at me. Maybe a few color changes with maybe some more creative font choices would help. Remember, we're trying to make this new version look as sexy as possible so don't be afraid to pull out all the stops to do that. Also, would it be possible to get new map screenies of some of the older revised maps?

 

I'll be taking a few screenshots this evening (for a while, party starts at 11), but it would be nice if someone with admin could put cheats on for a few hours so i can take screenshots without a hud (minimap, chat messages, deathmessages, ...)

I forgot the command to disable chat messages though. I can' remember if disabling the hud also disables the chat.

 

could someone put, say, four good screens of different squad skills on one page, with subtitles / descriptions (don't need to do all the skills... just some)

then add that to the squad skills bit.

 

What about making it look like the empiresmod.com page? I'd like it if it looked more like the rest of the empiresmod.com site because if it's an official PR site it should resemble the rest of the official site.
