After looking up mauve, wikipedia has me crossed between Rose Taupe or Cordovan. Either is described by 'a dull, desaturated pink'. Mauve is too light and bluish.
It's a dark redish light with a light blue/gray ambient. http://img408.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=empdeltaurban0021.jpg Gallery of recent screen shots of the work being done. Lighting tests on fast compiles.
I like it but I don't want people to compare it to Mvalley due to looks. But my god it's going to be awesome.
Yes while it's very brown I don't think it looks too shabby, although as mentioned it could use some better textures, have a look at the lost coast textures, most of those come with heightmaps and they're the right sort of colour, you should be able to mash something together using them. Although please drop the horrible solid fog, it's ugly as hell and I don't think it's going to help FPS without a cull plane.
Now that me and flasche are tag teaming this, He's doing the walls, and I'm killing the tall brushes that are stretched to hell. I ran about 15~ compiles last night checking different lighting and getting a new skybox going. Next step is to mess with the fog.
Here's some WIP pics. Me and flasche are doing 2 separate NF walls. both will be in the map, and we'll see which works better. It appears that both will feature a twin single wide opening with arches over top for the entrances. btw, ignore the huge black shadow. I flattened out the area inside the fort completely, but didn't drop it into the 3d skybox, so that is the shadow from the 3d skybox terrain. otherwise he's got some good ideas for detail work. Man we need to talk later, add me to steam drummerx
LOOOOL! We attack the NF Cows at the BAAAARRRN!!! Yes, I find the walls look HILARIOUS... but cool, none the less
Nice ideas, need to make a comment though. there are two different colors for the window, one is the wall color and one is the underside color of dried wood. It's just that in that picture the angle doesn't show it very well. It's a tad bit narrow as well, but it really shouldn't be too thick imo. Once I get a vmf with flasche's wall in it, I'll compile for a release for people to run around in, then work on making some finishing touches. Several focus groups on IRC have talked about turning that southern area into more of a ruined city looking place. That would be simple if I replaced the current prop covers for some brushwork with broken walls and such, make the flags in the remains of a collapsed building possibly. Also, instead of those gigantic bushes, how about one of those large oak tress like the one you see in the distance. Those things are massive! one of the few trees I like from the OB tree props. Is that what you had in mind for the room upstairs? ^_^
