    Now i'm soooooo curious what i did wrong this time.
    It's always something. ^^

    Materials/models that should be present:
    - 2 types of grass textures
    - mud texture (middle)
    - rock texture (cliffs)
    - dirt texture (under trees)
    - orex trees
    - 5 foliage models in center: high tree, fern, 2x grass and some low plant life
    - question marks in the ground (3 colors)
    - minimap with question marks on it

    Nice work. Do you see any improvement in performance after the move to OB?

    Slightly less, but steady. No wild fluctuations aymore, just ... a little less (85 to 75 at middle, 250 to 220 at the edges)

    But maybe the motion blur causes that. Haven't tested it yet with that option disabled.

    Also the game itself might run better. I'm just talking about an empty map, so no buildings, no vehicles shooting stuff, no players running around. Stuf like the new particle system should improve fps, the way the engine handles vehicles and physics might be improved, no idea. And finally i'm just testing client side.

    My favorite change is the compile time:
    vbsp: 8 sec
    full vvis: 50 sec
    final both vrad: 7 min

    I love the concept. Keep the map simple; they always work better than complex, detailed maps in Empires. Keep it up!

    Ok, i changed a few settings (and settings only cause they only take about a minute in total) and compiled it for 2.12. It's not full vvis, and not final vrad, but at first sight it looks pretty much like the 2.2 version. This surprises me, mainly because suddenly the shadow problems are gone in 2.12 as well, which i can only explain by valve fixing stuff which would be too much of a coincidence.

    Could someone with a clean 2.12 install test the map? The fifth post in this topic tells what should be present in the map. Also check for console errors.

    Thanks, it helped to find a problem with the .res file. It point to an older minimap, so the correct one won't be downloaded by clients.

    Fix:
    http://users.telenet.be/samhannes/mapping/Res fix.rar

    It includes the .res file and the resource file (.txt)
    Just extract to your empires folder.

    This fix is necessary for both the OB and 2.12 version of empires !!

    Edit:
    Oh and the OB version might have better fps after all. I noticed my hard disk has been in the red for a while, and together with a 51% of disk fragmentation this apparantly slows down my pc significantly. The 2.12 version had less fps than the OB version today, and a lot less compared to the same map a few weeks ago.

    But the fix is only 1 kb and is not on rapidshare, so it should be downloaded in a fraction of a second.

    It's been several weeks now.
    - Has the map been played?

    If so:
    - On what server(s)?
    - How many people?
    - Any problems with lag/fps?
    - Have people found ways to exploit? (getting on top of the hills)
    - Is the amount of money good?
    - Are there graphical problems somewhere? (stretched textures, wrong textures, surfaces not sewn together, ...)
    - Does the random stuff work completely?
    - Are there res spots on which no refineries can be build?
    - Any errors in console?

    - Anything else i should know about?

    I think trickster is getting it up on napalms soon, so it should recieve some extensive playtesting there.

    its on vet. server/ adv. noob server but not in rotation as ppl seem do not like the refinery hunt at the beginning.

    people tend to concentrate in middle, speak 16 out of 20 people constantly
    in middle the rest inclusive the commander win the game cause no one else
    seem to care about everything else.

    Played it like 6-7 times now and its always the same propblem with middle
