A skill for scout, or any skill, I'm not sure yet if the scout will be having too much on his plate.

If you encountered a dead enemy body (eg. if you killed one, you'd have a body for 10 secs) you could use the disguising skill to take his clothes. Your weapons would still be the same, but otherwise you'd look like the enemy. Radars would still have you displayed as an enemy. (orange diamond)

Taking 25 or more damage after disguising would result in loss of the disguise, regardless if you were healed inbetween damage-takings.

Imagine how awesome it would be to sneak past enemy lines in emp_escort, or drop a grenade in a populated enemy VF. :D

I like it. It's always fun to be able to walk around the enemy's base, gaining their trust, just long enough to blow everything up when they're not looking. I like the idea that you lose your disguise when shot at, so you have to be careful when using it.

sounds very good , the scout is probally going to loose the sniper anyway and change to some sort of comando. This would fit in perfectly !

I LOVED Covert Ops at Enemy Territory .. but it was kind of annoying to be shot at by your team mates all the time..
    especially with friendly fire on.

    "I'm a Covert Ops!"

    "I'm a Covert Ops!"

    "I'm a Covert Ops!"

    "I'm a Covert Ops!"

    .. good ol times.

I don't like spies because it fosters distrust in your team mates. In the BF1942 version, we let the scout disguise himself as parts of the map. Players became accustomed to shooting all rocks and trees that they didn't specifically remember seeing there before.

the other part is if you look at a team mate you see info and a name. would you see hte players name and if you recognised it as from the wrong team you would shoot? what about the mini map?

That rock looked at me evilly! IT MUST BE DESTROYED!!
That sounds more fun than disguising as an enemy.
Also running around as a tree would be hilarious.

I was going to suggest replaceing the Scout's Hide ablity with a metal create that you would of seen on the map, but since it didn't wokr in the BF1942 veriosn, I gues it wouldn't fly here.
I had an idea similar to this, but I would of went the way of Fakeing Death rather than disguising, either way, fun fun fun :D
But I'd suggest having them appear as an enemy on the minimap and NOT on the hud so you atleast stand a chance at infultration and say say something like "Damn, those NF Scum are under the map again!" when people see your arrow on their minimap.

Although it might work in a large game like empires, Krenzo is right I believe. If you play TFC, you tend to distrust your teammates when you know a spy is on the enemy team. The minute you see one everyone starts shooting their friends to do a spy check. Consequently, the spy is unable to infiltrate anywhere because the enemy always starts shooting any friend they see to look for spies. The idea would be cool but I don't believe that it works really well.

what if, when you made yourself disguised, you yust become invisible to the enemy team eccept for the commander (who sees you as a guy of his team), who can "reveal" yourself by duble clicking on you or holding his mouse on you for 5 sec's or somthing

if you do any action besides walking/jumping/running and an enemy (not the commander)
looks at where you are you get revealed
and to the own team you get an enemy suit with a special icon above telling you are disguised

you can hear the enemy chat if you stand close to an enemy unrevealed ( 5 to 10 meter)

turrets wont attack you when hidden, cous of you being invisible

    :::::::::::::::::::::

this way, you can trust your team 100% (eccept for the comm, but he can see who to trust by doing his clicking or so) and the cool penetration of enemy bases pwns when used good

I think Enemy Territory had the best implementation of this.

A Covert Ops could go to a dead enemys body and use it for like 10 seconds to get his clothes.
He would keep his gun but can't use it because he would loose the clothing / his disguise immediatly when firing a shot.

Additionaly, when looking at team members their name is shown, this is not the case for a disguised Covert Op.
So targeting him for 2-3 seconds would reveal that he is a spy.

Friendly Fire would take care of the people shooting their team members "just in case"... or even mirror damage dealt to team-mates to themselfs.

It worked VERY well in ET.

It was very funny to rush with the enemy team .. everyone too busy rushing to check for your name (despite being in a group of 5) and then blasting them all from behind .. MWHAHAHAHAHA.

The disguise was not really the clothing .. since a single disguised Covert Ops could be easily identified on range .. it was being near enemys .. making them actually THINK you are one of them...
for example using their routes and sloppily shooting the ground near your real teammates so they though you fought alongside them.

but then you get players going solo trying to evade this situation

maybe we shoud try and find somthing like my previus post, a way to disguise yourself, without that evry player is constantly checking echother on a scout disguised, cous this woud incurage solo playing in a mainly team built game

    so its bad!

Mirror damage is the worst thing ever. I never know that it's on. When I accidentally start shooting at a team mate, I'm getting hurt from the mirror damage, but it only makes me start shooting even more thinking they're shooting back. Friendly fire in any form sucks.

Blizzerd, I would say that every form of complete invisibility is overpowered.
You can get absolutely everywhere without a problem.
    What should stop you?
The Commander is too busy to klick or point on everyone of his 16 man team and 2 spies to see if they belong to his team.

Additionally it wouldn't require any tactics or thinking whatsover to get into the enemy base .. since you are invisible.

    ---

And well, as stated in the example of ET above you see the name of a teammate near the crosshair while targeting it .. you don't see it while pointing at a disguised enemy Covert Ops or Enemy .. so you should always know if your target is friend or foe.

And, er, I'm not a real fan of mirror damage either, but if it's aknowledged it keeps FF at a minimum.

FF however doesn't work well with area-damage anyways imo ;) .. Could be restricted to direct hit's only or something along that line.
