Can we add some? It would be nice to see on the hud when the main barracks goes down, since currently we're like never told correctly via any UI what's being attacked and where, reliably. I wouldn't say all buildings should give a message on death, certainly not turrets, but barracks, radars, VFs and maybe repair stations Just hook it into the normal k/d messages. How often have you looked at the radar and seen a building flashing and gone 'oshit we're under attack main' and then everyone look at you like you're a retard because the stupid minimap is glitched to fuck and back.
People will not listen regardless. If they dont care they dont care. So fix the glitched mini map instead of spamming the kill wall.
It could help the team get serious when they need to but I like things anonymous, makes it harder and therefore more fun. Plus a lot of people don't like this spamming of building death messages because it might stress them or make them shout at their monitor "OK I GODDAM GET IT, AHHHHHHHHHH, SHOOP DA WHOOP(pew-pew)!"
Buildings get killed much less often than players, so it wouldn't be spam. If you were really concerned about spam, you would leave engi-turrets off the list. I think one of the main things this does is it creates a nice positive reinforcer for game objectives. The HUD kill display isn't all that useful outside of being a positive reinforcer anyways, so why not really get the full use out of it.
yeah this reminds me of how the buildings flash/get placed wrong on the minimap for a few seconds wehn they are hit or spotted, is that fixable? +1 to OP of course
I think this would be an improvement, at least. It's always good to make sure players know what's going on.
I like it. I don't know about coords though because honestly the coords are kinda fucked up with most maps (minimap display at least). Just showing that it went down would be good though.
i wonder if it wont be too much information. if you for example sit in sbend mortar shelling over the hill and it tells you that you just got a rank point for destroying a building it could be everything. if you get told that you just destroyed their barracks ... hmmm idk ... it sure would change lots.
in the real world i barely get kill messages <.< but in the virtual world of empires i often fire my mortar blindly and only watch for the feedback i got. if you fire on a turret farm, wouldnt it change your behavior if you knew you took down a lvl3 mg or lvl3 ml? another thing are arties. as we all agree money isnt very representative, lets use crossroads. if you hit their base, but noone is there to provide you feedback, you wouldnt know if the building you just took down is some engi radar or the barracks you tried to take out. as i said, it COULD provide too much information - COULD i personally find it odd enough that you can tell what refs went down just by looking if the models and sprites are there or not ... im not against this by default, i just want to bring up some counter arguments as everyone is liek "omygosh giev now" - and as the title suggest spawn considers it, so why not bring up possible flaws? i understand considering as weighting all arguments. if it means "im going to implement it, i just cant tell if im too lazy or not" then the tag probably should be changed ... :p
