I ain't denying that squad revive is by and the far the best squad power in the game. What I am arguing is that a change like this would be so strong as to make it useless most of the time. Honestly, the vast majority of times I see people using squad revive is when they can't reach their squad members or their squad members need to get to them. If the player was in a safe and easy place to be squad revived, there'd be no need to squad revive them because it'd be more efficient to just run to them.

Whoever says squad-revive is OP only was victim to its punishing blows. Squad-revives can also go really damn wrong if done by a squad of complete fools.

We don't see any dumb plays with squad-revives because in the majority of time you have squad-leads like Paradox or FN or anyone like that which go for last-straw/ninja-type strategies like that. And they know how to organize a squad in time.

If you had beginners do something like that, it would be a waste of 6 squad points and 5 tickets. Not even mentioning that some beginners actually squad-rev their squad infront of enemy tanks and such.

    tldr:

Squad-revive isn't OP. The grade of usefulness scales with skill and knowledge of the game itself.

...what? Fun of a few? I don't remember a time where my team says something like "Go fuck <insert name> squad for killing their commander/base, someone ban these guys."

And remember, usually teams are evenly numbered. So what is your point?

Flasche you come over so stubborn at this point.

How does it take away the fun of the many when we do a last ditch effort to kill their commander.

If we succeed game ends in the last minute out of the 45 u played. This last minute winning the game for one team doesnt remove the fun you had the previous 44 minutes. It adds to the fun of the team that is losing but it doesnt remove the fun from the team that is winning. Squad reviving and the chance of getting ninjaed adds another dimension to the game where you have to always be on your toes.

edit: Im getting really really really really tired of people who dont play the game nor understand it to its core complaining about stuff 1 dimensionally.

I don't see us as having teleportation... I would see it as sort of Avatar like situation. Your mind is somewhere else controlling clones. This way neither side really looses experienced troops while at the same time validating the existence of tickets mechanic in game (the number of clone bodies).

How would changing the revive skill to just an aura specific area revive kill its usefulness completely? I just can't see that. SURE it would drop down from the number one spot to say... number 4 but, its NOT the end of the game. Fixing a brokenly OP element in the game is what should be done. Not kept because people like abusing it.

Can we at least agree that it is TOO OP and needs a change? We can discuss what to change to if we can at least agree it NEEDS to change.

It's not even the radius bit; it's the removal of the teleportation that absolutely kills it.

Its the part that you assume your squad members always play together in a squad and are close enough.

At 3x aura radius range I think that covers a rather large area to play with. Sure your team members on the other side of the map are not going to get revived... shame on them for being over there though. This game IS about teamwork is it not?

So if its about teleportation... what about if all the dead in that range were to teleport revive instead of a map wide teleport?

They should for tactical reasons. Them not doing it is an example of poor gameplay.

This is just funny. Like...how is flasche inexperienced? Or someone who doesn't understand the core elements of the game? Dude, this kind of statement is so far and away from being right that it's almost scary.

This is pretty angry though, I'll agree.

And the only actual useful thing I'm going to add is...what happens when a rax has been destroyed on one side of the map and you need people to revive at another side?

In fact, this whole kind of idea hinges on only one out of the two uses for revive. Use #1 - no tickets. Use #2 - teleportation.

See, what makes revive useful is the fact that it teleports people, not really the revive part. A revive is great, true, but what you're really trying to circumvent is the time it takes to respawn at a barracks and then for the infantry to make their way to you. In truth, the best part about revive is the teleporting.

The #revive part becomes most useful when you've run out of tickets. Only that. Otherwise you're talking about more people being alive in your vicinity or in an area without a barracks, once again things that make teleportation its best feature, not revive.

Cause he doesnt play the actual game. Thats why he's inexperienced. Idc if he played the game 5 years ago and has 10000 hours on his name. He barely plays now same for more than half the forum goers here. People commenting on how game mechanics should be cause they run a little hypothetical perfect simulation in their head doesnt cut it.

Well it's kinda funny that you think the game is different now. It hasn't really changed in a while, sure some tactics have, but not by very much. The biggest change is research, and that was always changing before so it's no biggy.

Also, you might not know, but he doesn't play as flasche any more, he plays as "no" and occasionally "yes".

Lastly, the hypothetical simulations are usually for all the worst case scenarios that people like you don't take into account. Situations that we've almost all been in, and where most abilities get adopted to be used. There's no use to proposing something for this game where you're only considering a normal state.

That means the ability will only be effective about 70% of the time, which is great, but as we've seen time and time again in this game, that means you will basically just see the 30% of the time where people get screwed over. Because this is the kind of game where a side ability of mines meant that the 2% of its use could be abused to flip thousands of commanders and maliciously ruin hundreds of games.

This is a game where the small case is the most salient. Because Empires can be ended by the few, not the majority.

I dont understand where being able to end by the few is bad, games need something like that otherwise stalemates become even worse and there is no diversity in gameplay. Like litterally the only way to win games with you destroy this part of the game ( squad reving ) is by sheer brute force tanking your way through which wont happen if both sides are equally skilled. It just gives you massive stalemates constantly.

I have been taking into account the extreme scenarios and Ive explained why I want to keep it.

Also I know flasche plays under those names

Not an excuse an example. My main peeve was people transporting a squad next to enemy com or into a base.

Didn't we already discuss this once that if you let ANYONE close to your commander/base/flag you deserve the following punishment?

This game has many preventive measures against infantry such as cameras, turrets, walls and the team itself. If you neglect any base defenses and minimap information it is your fault.

I would understand it being OP if it was unpreventable, but it isn't.

Well Paradox, I didn't say to end the game with a few people was bad, I said that's why you run the simulation. Because we don't want a situation where you have a game mechanic abused by a few for an extended period of time again.

I used to like 9 mine. A lot. There were really great ways to use it and it was just plain awesome. Didn't really balance the fact that we had 100's of games in a row ended by people who abused it straight up.

To be honest I know this is going to unwind a bit, but this started because I asked how flasche is inexperienced, and then you went on to say that running a hypothetical simulation doesn't cut it. My point was that the simulations are there to basically cover all the situations that you can get into, so you don't mis-step in implementation.

Which I've seen a lot. And whether it's true or not, most newer players just don't seem to be able to grasp that there are a lot of situations they've rarely encountered. Mostly because of player counts, but also because there was a break of continuity in players. When I joined there were lots of people from before to instruct me and show my the strategies of before and then. Now, sure, I'll completely admit that I rarely play the game, and yet still...I often see newer players making very basic strategic mistakes. And so to me it often feels like...it's sort of a case where I might not know what highschool is like for people now, but I've still basically lived longer, so I know what life is like.

    If that metaphor makes sense.
