Is Bad Company 2 really anything other than BF2 with destructable buildings?

no, BC is nothing like BF

BC is a more console friendly game, BF is a more PC friendly

both of them had their games built around their platforms, hence y BC has no prone among other things

lol in BC the lack of prone doesn't negatively affect anything, if anything its better because of the pronelack

i disagree. For most classes maybe, but its hard to snipe without the ability to prone.

My only issue is that I can't prone behind cover. Besides that, good riddance.

Yeah, the lack of prone is annoying. But it's for the best, because pronefights suck.

Otherwise, I find it an improvement on BF2 overall. Faster combat, more interesting maps/gamemodes, good balancing as far as I can tell. The advancement seems rewarding as well.

    BF2:
    Moar players
    JETS!

    Prone
    Less weapons
    Laggy with shaite connections
    Awesome hitboxes
    *sarcasm*

    BC2:
    Moar weapons
    No prone ^^
    MOAR WEPONS!
    Destruction :|ove:

Low player limit compared to BF2
    Too "Modern Warfare 2-ish"

    (Note: Prone is shaite)

    So yea, BC2 wins

Yes yes, apart from fags who have moved over from call of duty modern retardedness 2, or from PC battlefield games.

Yeah, I have to say, the playerbase from the beta is kind of disappointing. They're not very jerk-ish, but there's very little communication, which I find very unfortunate. Also, 90% of them are snipers. :(

I love how the tripod on the lmg's is pretty much an asthetic because of the lack of prone. After playing the beta on the 360, gotta say, it would be an awful game with prone. Youd get even more snipers, with extremely effective camoflauge. Seems like a step in the right direction for the playstyle, but I prefer more realism and such so I'll be sticking to tactical servers on CoD4 and Arma2.

Slightly offtopic, but I think in Dies-Irae we've virtually made a decision to not include prone. Purely because it looks shitty and is nearly impossible to animate well, and on top of that, it's sucky for gameplay.

So no prone is a big ++ for me.

32 player limit sounds bad for BC2 thought. What are the map sizes like?

The beta level was the perfect map size. It feels chaotic, but not too crammed to the point you feel like your dieng from spam. You have three bases to assault, each one goes from being fresh to completely obliderated, so I like that after you assault each base it goes to the next with some fresh buildings. There was alot of trees and random stuff to use as good cover. I LOVE the maps even if I dont love the game.

Yeah, I was surprised. The beta map on PC is well-sized - they're not the huge Battlefield maps you're familiar with, but they're dense. The maps themselves are actually split into four sections, where you're only playing one section at a time. So, while each combat area is not terribly large, you're still covering a Battlefield-sized amount of ground.

From what I heard the beta maps, were actually cut down, by two bases as well. Have no proof other than hear-say though.

But yeah 32 players on these maps are just right, keeps tension high, without overloading the map with explosions.

And believe me, damn are there alot of explosions
