If you say stop with the equivelents then why is the ressearch tree exactly the same for both.... ?

They dont work the same way... They dont have the same succses rates, they look diffrent, they are diffrent...

They are just designed to do the the same thing...

Carraiage, very nice models, but a few gripes...
    A. The Mingun's Barrels are big enough to fire the Rockets/Missiles.
    B. The missiles don't have very stable launching platforms.

If you would like to take my suggestions and model after them, Try taking the NF Lvl2 MG and thin out the barrels and add a few (Make it 8 Barreled?) as well as modiffy it a bit. And for the Missiles, take the BE lvl2 ML and play with that a little.
The base for your model is a beauty, but resize it a bit, it looks like the Radar with a couple weapons attached to it.

Unless.... That doesn't sound like a bad idea. Make the Anti-Projectile building a huge, costly, but somewhat effective structure.

Okay, I've made the barrels a bit more thin.

And I also made a size Comparison.

I dont think its too big

Edit: Shinzon, thanks for the offer, but I dont know how to unwrap it
    :P

Just something I made when I was bored.

Its the NF Version of the AA/AM Cannon.

(Yes, it looks like a Quadruple Flak Cannon, but who cares, its COOL!)

    Heh. It's a German 88x2.

    Nice looking AA gun, Carrigage.

BTW, in terms of using a chaingun to shoot down missiles, CIWS and the Phalanx Anti-missile system are both used quite a bit. They are moving to to hot missile on missile action, but still. Phalanx fires 1000 rounds per minute if memory serves me correctly. Isn't that enough to say yes?

Except for the fact that the resources used to have this turret track and shoot and a moving missile would be off the scale. So it might be better to just to have an upgraded missile turret shoot in the area of turrets. 'Course the AI would have to take a nice upgraded to put a missile in the trajectory to knock it out. And then it'd unbalance cannons against missiles.

So maybe, this anti-missile idea isn't such a good idea afterall.

    But I like the renders...

so it can fire a max of 13.5 seconds before depleating its ammo????

    dousnt sounds right

with 1000 rpm it needs 54 seconds to empty its load

    sounds more accepable

DonĀ“t try to tell me that a minigun fires slower than a mg42, because it really fires at 3000-4000 rpm.

its a special minigun, made to kill planes, it has larger bullets and all

and btw, your making bad comparings

mg42 still is one of the finest machine guns in the world
it allmost never jamms, is extremely rapid firing (for a classic design)
and it is fairly cheap and easy to make

The reason why the MG42 was so widely used and feared was because of the high rate-of-fire and the easily replaceable barrel.

Most machineguns had barrels that were hard to change, but the Mg42 had a very easily replaced barrel, so they could quickly change the barrel and continue shooting.

Today, the Mg42 is a worthless weapon :P

The fast rate-of-fire of the Mg42 rendered it weak to any kind of armor, same goes for the Thompson SMG. Thats why most Americans picked up the German SMG, cant remember its name right now.

    now you must die!

the weapons used these days are not so different to the mg42

the mg42 is a support weapon, but simply not as accurate

    MP-40?

    or MP44?

    MP40?
    Isn't that 9mm, less power than the M1A1's .45?
