I'm not so sure about that, I would imagine it would heat up after a few minutes and have to throttle it back. It's a tablet, it doesn't really have a good way to dissipate heat. On that front while hd 4000 can do some gaming(though you will have to set things on low settings) I am not sure it can maintain a decent fps. I am always wary when people stay stuff like that about cpus. I do agree that clock speeds are somewhat irrelevant, but only for different generations or brands. As far as I can tell both grants and the surface pro use an ivybridge base cpu, so it sounds like a fair comparison.
Should have checked Empires earlier A device that allows me to take handwritten notes and draw diagrams would be quite useful for me. That's why the Surface Pro has my interest. I use LyX on my (non-touchscreen) laptop but it's not so good for note-taking. Maybe I could get the Surface Pro, load it up with LyX, whatever handwriting note app I like, and Graphing Calculator 4.0. Might not end up bad as long as I don't get distracted and play games or something. :p
carry around a backpack with either extra batteries or a built in battery and your good to go. http://advancedelectronic.net/index...cts_id=68400&gclid=CPCbnN-OsLwCFcp_QgodeWYArg http://www.laptopbatteryexpress.com...rk=gdfV22226_a_7c1247_a_7c6912_a_7cAM_d_PP140
Yes but I would like easy cut + paste, copy + paste, and erasing. (And for anyone who says "erasing is easy," consider that erasing half a page or more of work starts to get into the "annoying" territory, plus you have erase marks and parts of the eraser rubbing off that have to be dealt with.)
My uni had outlets everywhere. You could usually charge while in lecture in most rooms. I used to be a battery life whore, but I keep finding that my aging devices and their crippled batteries work just fine because outlets are everywhere.
You know nothing about computers. You need Intel i7 Extreme Edition for best gaming and you have to overclock it, so get liquid kewling.
That got pretty funny quickly. But seriously, mcgyver is right, no better way to take notes than with a notebook. I don't take notes on my laptop anyways, I only use it as a workstation/gamestation/4chanbrowsingstation. Pencils will never ever be replaced. Thank the lord, and the energy it took to form our planet and create carbon 4.5 billion years ago, for graphite.
I just bought my first tablet before I went away last week. If I'd been able to get this Surface Pro in the UK (in the timeframe I had as well) for $500, then I'd have done it in a heartbeat. As it happened, Fooshi convinced me to get the Xperia Tablet Z, which I've been pretty impressed with, though I'm still not getting a whole lot of use out of it besides watching TV as I walk around the house and stuff.
All I do with the iPad that for some reason found its way under the christmas tree this time is watch Twitch and occassionally play some time-sinking game.
Please, never ever buy a tech gadget without consulting us here again. I mean seriously, you take advice from Fooshi?
I wanted a 10" tablet and it had to be possible for Amazon Prime to deliver it the next day to me. It was basically either the Nexus 10 or the Xperia Tablet Z, and I chose waterproof-ness, SD card expandability, slimmer, lighter and better screen colours over a higher resolution, stock Android experience and a slightly cheaper pricepoint.
