The script manifest is already enabled, and will stay enabled. RKB crying won't change that.

yes I know. I alluded to that earlier in this thread. Anyway my priority when the script manifest comes out is to maximize fun. I will definitely be using the script manifest to make balance changes (much like I have been doing already). However, the scope of changes I can make will be far greater.

I also intend to make a new set of flavor scripts that take research and weapons in a radically different direction than they have been traditionally. I don't think this script manifest will ever 'manifest' into a problem, but I suppose we'll get to see when it comes out.

Unfortunately, this is true. Like I said earlier, the other developers left for their respective projects before they finished script manifest : /

Currently the tester group has a considerable number of people who are not interested in testing but want information about the latest version anyway.

Also wrt the script_manifest it is likely to be in 2.25 however its continued existence beyond that does rely on solving the issues that it brings instead of ignoring them.

Its not confirmed. And by the obvious lack of information from your earlier post I doubt what you say now is definite.

From my experiences with 2.2x testing, I'd say there needs be two types of tests.

Closed Beta Tests - Small (1-4) people tests involved in finding crashes and serious bugs. The goal is not to test gameplay, but find problems that would prevent a full game test. Would require access to SVN builds and be limited only to regularly active testers and be more organized (dev says we need to test X, Y, and Z).

Open Beta Tests - Large (10+) people tests designed to find non-serious bugs and balance gameplay. Be open to semi-active testers (and possibly the whole community) and be organized into semi-serious tester PUGs. Less organized than the first but allows people to find bugs/problems that would be obvious during normal gameplay.

Good luck with that. The last tests (that I could make it too) only got 10-20 people and were pretty unorganized. The scripts manifest is not the optimal testing solution, but I think it will be much better than the previous testing methods.

So what, you are just gonna hope and pray they decide not to finish the script manifest? Just because some members of the dev team may not like it, that doesn't mean it absolutely won't be in 2.25.

If you could tell us where your information is coming from RKB, I think we would all appreciate it. Otherwise, we'll be forced to doubt whether what you say is definite.

Regardless, we always had a 48 server full on friday evening for testing. Usually on saturday and sunday too. And through the week, frequently, during the days.

This game will never get any better unless we actually get a full set of people on a server to test the releases. We need people to test gameplay and we also need people to report bugs when and if they find them. We shouldn't really have bug-finding sessions, we should have tester pugs.

Again, let me reiterate, we all need to test the releases or we're never going to get a good game. Regardless of what you want in the game being in or not.

Here's how I know RKB is being a flaming faggot.

Kylegar developed the script manifest and supports it. The fact that RKB used his name in a list of "developers" who are dissenting on the issue of adding the script manifest is proof that he is bullshitting you.

If this is true, it would be nice to have a dev explain the official reasoning behind the decision than having RKB troll us.

The last few tester pugs were supposedly for "quick testing" and didn't require a full set. And thus there was 24 hour notice. And I can't schedule stuff within 24 hours....

BTW, why am I still not in the Steam Group?
