I would say leave in dristrict. Its simple, games don't last too long nice break good way to learn how diffrent skills work.
People have agreed silently not to use nukes but Eth0 haven't noticed this because he has been playing TF2 for so long. The escort has been really nice without nukes when people agreed that they are lame fucks and everyone has died at nuke. I think it was like a month before I saw Eth0 to use nukes on Escort. It was very nice when people used only arty (me mostly) and HE cannons and other kinds of weapon but not nukes. Nukes just ruin it to hell. When I was on BE with Eth0 it wasn't even for me fun at all. It just sucked.
on a related note: the start screen after the map loads (ya know, the empiresmod.com one that no one looks at) should bring up either a new tips/tricks page or the starting guide in the forum.
Yeah, as Solokiller said. For now people who test/play 1.08 should just understand that Nukes = lamers on escort.
There is another thread discussing tiered starting research states that could very possibly solve the Nuke issue on Escort. Doesn't sound like it will make it into the 2.0 release, but hopefully some time before Aircrafts show up
This would be a great idea if it became the creed of the empires veterans to let the game be cool as it could be and not a lame joke. But thats crazy talk around here. 1 week 1 month would be enough to get people liking it then all these clans appear and ruin the games. The tags would represent the stablity of the community, give noobs someone to look to for 'guidance'.
You just can't say that you are going to "Remove" maps form EFB; that wont work... In any case leave every map in; those maps provide a nice stress relief and time to get familiar with the infantry classes without worrying about anything else
I'm against removing clan tags. A clan tag always gives the player a respectability boost. And even showing that Empires clans exist is important, because they indicate a community. I am, however, in favor of [Newb-Guide]-tags. a) They show that we are a family where the vets care about the newbs and b) Empires is a complex game, where experience=skill and lack of experience is more frustrating than in most games. I mean, seriously, it took me two months before I found out about class-specific skills. Speaking of community: I think the most important thing newbs have to learn is that there are a lot of people who it is a lot of fun to play with, because this is what makes Empires so great in my opinion. I mean the fact that, after a few months, every time you join the server you know half of the people. The fact that you can pull stuff like an eight people ladder or APC rushes (whether you like them or not, they require teamwork). The fact that, when you come back after a three month break someone will go "hey, how are ya, haven't seen you lately". I have never seen this in Insurgency, Dystopia, Counter-Strike or anywhere. This is what makes people come back, it certainly is what makes me come back. And I don't know how serious you were about taking out infantry maps, but think about the following: -On comm maps skill points play little to no role. This means newbs don't learn about the skill system which is an integral part of the gameplay. The same applies to squad points. -On infantry maps people people play as scout or rifleman more often. Sticky bombs or not, riflemen are seldom useful in vehicle combat. Infantry maps show newbs that riflemen are good for something. -Infantry maps and the tactics used on them are more "mainstream" and thus newb-friendly. It has already been brought up that infantry maps are there so comm-maps don't get boring. Newbs being frustrated earlier(see above) will get bored faster.
i was able to kill a bunch of nuke tanks with the squad arty skill.. the only thing that made it hard was clicking thru the F menu.. but if the skills get the binded keys then i think nuke tanks will be easy kills.. also i've played escort many times to find 3 or 4 nuke tanks abandoned because the noob didnt bind them to a key.. ugh.. wasted all our res didnt someone say somthing about a warning or not letting you make the tank untill you have the weapons binded? that would be a nice 2.0 feature
there is a way to ghetto rig it so you can bind them by going directly into the config files. its in the forums somewhere
People could rotate through and play on a "newb" server with "live" tutorial players to answer questions......I'm a believer that you should RTFM but luv to just play and learn. The mentions of [EMP] tags are great too! Any way to keep new emp_recruits from donning the tags? Cheap tactics...defined allready... sux while learning...also shows strategics of the game once in a while. Not every game during first month of release. Fresh meat for all!:D
