Please don't look for things like this, there will probably be hundreds. In that scene in particular, look at my health bar :dead_nf: As for music, It won't be changed for 2 reasons: 1. The whole thing has been edited to fit the current music. 2. Using anything from any other game carries all kinds of legal implications which I just don't care to explore. I don't doubt that it's a cool song, but I won't be using it.
The trailer and music are fantastic as they are, but I agree that Hellmarch would reinforce the RTS idea. And as long as you're not using it for profit, I'm fairly sure that you can go ahead and put it in as long as you give proper credit.
Seems good enough, however I have some comments on version 2 of the trailer. The trailer is in black and white. I think maybe color might be better? I agree with private sandbag, you need a massive tank battle from a birds eye view so people can see how cool it is. Also, I personally think the third person player models are one of our weaknesses right now, some of the animations look a little dated as well as the models in general (especially the NF), so a few of those third person scenes with the class explanations I think would be better suited in first person, because those first person weapon models are just amazing. Sometimes a gameplay trailer doesn't have to have music and text. Perhaps we can make two for purposes of promoting. We can keep this one and perhaps make an E3 style developer-dubbed actual gameplay footage on a classic map like crossroads. I'm talkin narration like "okay so this is the commander view here are the buildings, im going to place some resource nodes to get the resources flowing,... blah blah.... this is the vehicle factory where players can make vehicles, then switch views to some engi first person, "this is how the buildings are built - engineers"... who then goes inside and builds a vehicle, then you can showcase the vehicle construction menu. This trailer would be much longer, but would attract new players nicely. Though this new trailer does showcase the features of 108 nicely, I think an E3 style sit-down with developers talking about the features with an in-game-footage-backdrop with no gimmics or dramatics can be very efficient at attracting new players. Thoughts? EDIT - Oh by the way broccoli, nice job showing off cyclopean, those are some really flattering shots.
Now that's the way to make good trailer. It only is missing good tank battle scenes in it and also the music is woeful. But that's a lot better than the first version. Very good job.
What are you talking about Bodrick, it's supposed to be black and white... Next you're going to tell me that your computer magically coloured it in! I agree a developer video would be cool, but that's a different thing entirely. Hell, it wouldn't even need a developer to do it, any experienced player with a half-decent mic and a sexy voice would do (eth0? Is that you?).
I showed the trailer to about 10 people at Gearbox Software at once. They said it looked really good. The part with the APC running over the guy got a good response, and the final "Awww Yeah" got quite a few laughs.
Best scene i think was the scout requesting artillery support, and seeing the arties shoot at the base in split screen.
