Once again, it's time for another release. Empires V1.07 fixes many bugs and increases stability. We've moved Empires to the new HL 2 engine introduced in Episode 1. This means that if you didn't have HL2 Deathmatch installed before, it's now required to play. The new engine fixes problems with recording and playing demos and may improve performance overall.

    You rock, Krenzo.

When I updated my server and loaded emp_canyon, I was presented with a deluge of missing scene file errors. It's probably fine, but if anybody else encounters it, it should probably be looked into.

I would REALY love you krenzo, IF you would make actual patches instead of updates. you know.. the kind that are like 7 megs instead of 150 megs. :(

We don't realy need to go from version 1.0 to 1.7. Just make 3 Downloads available. A 1.7 complete version. A patch from 1.6 - 1.7 , and a 1.0 - 1.7 version. Beleive me... it will save us all a buch of pain... including your severs. :)

If he were to do that, he would have to make, like, seven different patches, which would take even longer.

    Quit yer bellyachin'!

    Did someone mention incremental patching?

Was emp_district changed at all? It's in changelog on empiresmod.com but not in the installer. If it wasn't changed when can we expect to see the new version?

Krenzo, please tell me, that you do have freetime, that you do have a reallife, that you do anything else than coding for Empires. Please do not make the same mistakes I do.
This is just creepy awsome, another Empires version, another weekend going to hell, spending time in front of the pc playing Empires instead of going out, enjoying the sun, meeting friends an playing soccer...

Ach nein... You've just made it impossible to play empires for free... Goodbye, empires!
I mean I could buy half-life 2 but my brother has it and me and my brother have never bought duplicate games... Doesnt seem worth it when theres another copy 2 meters away in the room opposite...

If your Brother has HL2, why don't you buy HL2:Epi1 then?

Krenzo is fixing capture points and spawn points, i only added enough spawns at each capture point to prevent spawnkilling. Until then, the new version will not be released. The reason he's modifying them is because they need proper placement, currently they are simply placed in groups at the capture points without any specific advantages.

He has that too, and having heard/seen most of the games, and listened to him raving about them all the time doesnt make me see any particular reason to buy them...

So wait, can you play if you don't own Episode 1?
I really really really really hope so.

You only need to install HL2: Deathmatch.

you dont need ep1 to play. the updates are all in the patch--thats all you need is the patch(and hl2:dm unlocked as stated). Happy gaming.

    Some people misunderstood:
Empires is now using the Source-engine coming along with HL2:Episode 1, which is slightly improved compared with the one HL2 is using.

BUT Empires requires HL2:Deathmatch, which is already using the improved Source-engine. Valve "ported" HL2:DM from Source(HL2) to Source(HL2:Epi1).
That was done by one of the countless Steam-updates since the release of Episode1 (or even before?).

So all you need is HL2:DM, which is using the HL2:Episode2-Source-engine, no matter when or where you bought HL2:DM.
