I want to attack the argument about free jeeps creating more jeeps. I feel that, with jeeps as cheap as they are, making them free wouldn't actually cause more jeep spam. As it is, I know that I personally almost never pay heed towards the cost of a jeep because of their cost, and I would figure that most people are the same. Jeeps have had their cost cut by around 40% or so since last March and I haven't actually seen an increase in jeeps, so I've little reason to believe that making them free would actually cause a feared increase in jeep spam. For all intents and purposes, they might as well be free already; two points is enough to afford a jeep. For carcasses, it's a simple matter of cutting down the time that a jeep carcass stays alive Really, I don't think free jeeps would be an issue during about 90% of a round. I do, however, think that they'd drastically change the remaining 10%, which would be the very early-game, the first five or so minutes when resources haven't stabilized past five hundred or so.
I almost never use jeeps even though I often have the wages and jeeps no longer handle like fucking sleds. I'll tell you what, if jeeps were free, I'd be using them constantly. Maybe even more than I use APCs. I'd relish the opportunity to pool wages while staying mobile. If I'm comming on a map that has 400+ starting res, you better believe that I'm dropping that VF. Every. Fucking. Time. Though honestly, if this game is all about vehicles, then maybe an early VF isn't a bad thing?
at a point i started to use jeeps regularily. whenever i died and didnt want to come back in an apc or tank, as long as a vf was up, i was grabbing a jeep ...
People need to get better at dealing with early vehicles, is all. Jeeps are already cheap enough, I basically agree with Candles' POV.
That's the issue though, you make a 400 res investment provide absurd early game benefits with effectively no additional costs. Yeah, there's a ticket cost, but that's of minimal importance if you win in the first 10 minutes of the match. So while I can relate to Paradox and it would be fun as hell to rush like a madman in early game, but I can't help but feel like it would get old.
I know that's the issue. I said that's the issue. There's no problem for 95% of the game, it's the 5% that makes up the early part that's the problem.
jeeps only cost personal res. NO personal res... no jeeps. Stop taking other tanks out from personal res. Done. Jeeps are now a privilege not a right.
this game isnt all about vehicles and vehicle combat is still the least fun combat in the game do your job already
LOLWAT i do not want to play empires without vehicles just curious what do you dislike about vehicles i thought that was *THE* point of empires? (the other point being...... the fact that when you play empires, everyone has a similar interest , "they enjoy playing empires")
Jeeps have -the best mobility in the game -ridiculous hitbox compared to their models -are able to either run you over or -just ignore you and go do their thing since -besides mines there is no other way of dealing with them reliably -even IF mortars and rpgs would be ohk against them, good luck reliably hitting them. I dare you. -did i mention they outrun the only static defense in the game -You cant even use vehicles to deal with them since a)youre wasting a crapton of res to deal with a non-investement b)you cant keep up with them nine times out of ten.
I see a space there. But, it's like, not actually a space? I'm confused. Well, the thing to do would be to remove the rollbars. Then, the method of choice for dealing with them would be to shoot out the driver. I wonder how much the game would change if turrets could shoot at jeep drivers?
Shooting people out of a jeep is even harder then hitting them with a rpg. Besides, I think there's no collision on the roll bars so they can't stop bullets. I feel like it says something when one of the best grens is saying hitting jeeps can be hard.
Dude about this. Like shit. I always have the feeling when Im trying to shoot someone out of a jeep I need to readjust my shooting style to shooting someone from in an apc with a chaingun. Prediction isnt good at all you have to prefire infront of them. Candles can you explain this?
Probably has to do a lot with prediction, jeeps go so fast that it predicts hit box quite a bit farther then you think. Or prediction is funky because the player isn't exactly moving the character, the vehicle is so calculations get funky. Those are my 2 guesses. I wonder how wrong I am.
