I sent a PM. Also, I found a strange bug - if you try to launch the game while it's still downloading, it will try to launch the game in an undownloaded state. On any other steam game, it says "Preparing to launch..." and then comes up with a progress bar.
When I launch the game (it's 100% downloaded), it gets to the loading screen. Then I receive this error message: "Could not load library client". Then the game crashes back to desktop.
srsly, 2gb are a problem? i could dl that over hsdpa in reasonable time costing nothing extra (well ok 2€ if i get over the limit) you should start to arive in the 21st century
I need a little help here - been searching around, and I can"t seem to find an answer. I'm getting the "unavailable at this time" message and my game cache is still only 33 MB. Is this because the server is offline or should I be able to download now?
Annoyingly, Empires persists to be in a white-font state, and all read the same amount of filespace used. Looks like I need to do some manual stuff. (Clicking Play still gives 'This game is currently unavailable') If you can't think of anything, I'll try a clean install of Steam to another path and then merge the two at later date.
Or. Delete clientregistry.blob in your steam folder, then log in again. If that doesn't work, delete the Empires gcf in your steam/steamapps/commanderfagasz or whatever it is. And the Empires folder in there too. NOT SOURCEMODS.
I git errir /cimmanderfagasz not found!!!221! Empires is now installing. But seriously, I didn't even have any files name Empires in the steam directory, I did a clean install. Steam still thought it was installed. I think the cause might have been 'installing' empires without the correct server data in the cfg, simply starting steam after owning Empires causes this to happen, so a sure install required me to re-install steam, add steam.cfg, then install Empires. Failing that, deleteing AppUpdateStats.blob (alongside Clientregistry, if that made a difference, deleting it alone did not) seems to have done the trick, ster.
There's option in steam.cfg called FingerprintManifestCheck that validates every GCF from content server at every launch (or more). It slows down every Steam app launch severely but helps in such situations.
I still have the same prob, as soon as I put the steam.cfg in my steam folder it won't let me connect to the steam server. (And in immediate effect, won't open up, beside the login window), beside that I can't delete the local contend from my old steam empires installation (which also shows up as "currently unavaible", even after manually removing it). The "usual" fixes don't work btw (deleting clientregistry.blob, empires_x.gcf, empires, etc. ...)
Would it be helpful to have a thread for bugs we find? Or are we just chucking all that in here? Im probably just missing the boat, are we only using Mantis?
