Support weapons rarely get used, people just want kills. Until assist kills are implemented in some way, it's useless.

Tbh...those guys who did Nuclear Dawn (or who bought it, whatever) had another mod - a stargate one (yes I know, shut up!). Anyway, they had a zat gun in that, and if you got shot with it twice, you'd get k.o'd and fall to the floor for 3 seconds or so - just enough time for someone pretty close to get to you and knife yer arse. Now I ain't saying nothin' really, just that it was cool in at least 1 fps game without being entirely gay. Although tbh...I wasn't hit with it a lot of times myself, so it may be annoying for some - although I would cap the effective range at somewhere like 50feet and just do a damage effect after that. This post is based on nothing except seeing the words "stun gun" and seeing someone say "did is ghey, yo!"
You have no idea how hard it is to use the mowtar on duststorm. The hills man! Shooting up ward and with a direct hit he takes like what? 10 damage if dug in.. It's not easy at all. You need another rifleman to counter him.
Lets sum up the possible tools: RPG - Unlikely, needs precision and very fast aim, if he moves you fail. Mortar - 10dmg pistols - ... smgs - ... Rifles - lol no Carbine/50cal - Maybe after one or two deaths. Scout rifle - can engage outside his max range and kill him, or just use the advantage of spike damage.
lol what issues do you have with dug in HMG pussies? usually once you know that they are there they are pretty easy to avoid. the most fun thing is to take the long way round and punch them to death ... most of the time they suck horribly anyway ... if nothing helps, get a tank and roll him over <.<
I never said they're an overall gameplay problem, there's just a few situations they're very difficult to kill, IE rax camping early game on duststorm.
especially on duststorm i never found them to be any issue - the map is far too spread out, they shouldnt even get close to your base also rpg sniping hmg whores aint that hard - dunno how much dmg it finally does - but it worked out quite well so far :D
You've never been HMG camped on the centre rax? It happens to me like every 2nd duststorm. BE Rushes mid, NF riflemen take the ridge, HMGer sits up there shooting everything that moves.
i guess mainly because you die to someone that probably sucks too much for killing you otherwise? :evil:
me and brutos talked about a "stun rifle" being that you get tazed for 5 to 10 seconds and your stamina is depleted it would change the way the weapon is used (no longer to snipe, because the people you snipe with it do not die anymore) but will be a weapon specially designed to take out entrenched players, like a hmg rifleman with digin and a few engies to revive him and repair him you would stun him, he would be unable to do anything for a few seconds so you can go closer and kill the group off with the rest of your team
Never happend to me and I play more often. And rushing and holding middle on duststorm is always fail. Only noobs waste their time to defend one refiniery for hours. Seems like you don't like to be killed by HMG rifleman. But this is the only thing he can do. He fails in everything else. Don't like this. It's the same like plasma overheat. Getting killed, because you can't move or shoot will always be a stupid gameplay. Also don't like this. It will result in more noobs who will camp proned to kill other proned enemies.
Yes, cause holding a double res refinery in the middle of a wide open map is fail.. Lets get the ruins next time guys!
