Ranged fires faster than HE. In tank vs. tank or if you're slapping down a building, its total damage output and reserve ammo is superior. Though, using it is somewhat more difficult.
I was actually thinking of the IS-series russian tanks i'm not so familar with all their models. (good referance for russian models; http://www.nemo.nu/ibisportal/5pansar/index.htm )
Yeah, problem is that you cant use your superior damage per sec with ranged cause you will overheat to fast most time. In a standart scenario in empires, imo, the damage per shell is more important because you almost never shot at your fastest firing rate with tank cannons.
Only when your tank is still. But then, I guess the BE don't need to drive anywhere when they just railgun across the map.
I for one personally prefer a heavy with only 1 HE installed, and more armor (pref regen, lots of plates + regen is awesome) for a heavy with 2 HE installed and considerably less armor... this way, a heavy with 2 HE installed will overheat before he can effectively kill me, at which time i can pick his side off only weakness to this combination is its low ammo capacity, but it can be countered by the fact that regen requires redrawing from combat now and then anyway...
I guess it needs about 6 shells of he to rip through your full regen heavy. Regen armor is near uselss against HE.
who would stand still and only face one side of a tank? this is not the way i use regen, not the way you are supposed to use regen
Personally I feel like there should be more hull variants overall, and that said variants can be adapted for the situation. Like maybe 3 light variants, 4 medium variants and 2 heavy variants. Each have different slots. Only light variants can be made into APCs, but each hull has a different amount of people it can seat, and different weapon slots.
We have that more or less with the 3 tank variants we have. In other games a nuke tank would be a different vehicle than a 5 standart missle spam vehicle. Just that we dont have a visual sign that shows people what the tank uses to kill you
With the current way vehicle tiers work, combat grows further and further from the individual infantryman. I like this.
Basically, there isnt a problem with the heavy because it exists. It could easily just be classed as a medium variant if you decided to give it that title, this thread could really just have read as 'nerf the heavy'.
not only that, there will be different types of mediums, some more suited for missles, other for cannons, other for speed or armor
