1) Bumgravy is fixing up crossroads. Don't touch it. 2) JJ45 said anyone can work on this map freely.
looks like a 3vs3 wc3 map with ice terrain. cant remember the name. this are 2 important points for a good empires map.
I have No doubt your map will play great. But I wonder If you might find some out side aid to help with the apperence, Our maps typicly look terrible yours play like gold but glisten like un polished brass. After you get this thing blocked out I recommend going OCD on it's looks.
I do think it can be made to work if thought out well. I also think it would be nice to have a map like this as it would feel entirely different than the current maps. But i'm not that eager to make a map like this for some reason. Would be great if someone else did it though. If someone does ... plan the entire layout entirely before you begin. 3 times i almost started working together with someone. But frankly, empires maps are huge, and you're working on them for about a year. If you work with two, it still takes a year cause some time gets lost trying to find something you both agree on, and the rest of the extra time is used to make the map look only that little better while adding nothing to the gameplay. I worked on vehicletraining for 400 to 1000 hours (first map - 8 versions, one of them a total remake) Arid took me at 100 to 300 hours Bush took me 150 to 300 hours I already spent at least 200 hours on the current map, probably 250 (been working on it since april or so). Yeah i know, i want to be sure that the real number is between these so that's why they're so different The size is the first reason why my empires maps will never be as polished as the average map from an average mod. Skill is the second reason.
very cool idea, and would actually force people to actively think and adjust in-game. Seems like it will fail due to the general idiocy out there, but its a great concept that i'd like to see happen. Perhaps have large 'doors' in archways that are open or closed (permanently) dependent on randomness, with some kind of smart layout (not unlike bush's) to make sure it doesnt destroy/imbalance gameplay.
You could cut your map into cubes. Every cube could have 4 exits to the neighbour cubes. Make it like 5x5 cubes. Now every exit gets a gate. Endless possiblilitys of ways through the map :D
Although it doesn't perfectly fit your idea for the next map, something I have been mulling over in my mind is a infantry only version of escort. NF start on the deck of a BE destroyer, BE up in the bridge. NF have to first take the bridge to gain access to the rest of the ship. They then move deeper and deeper. The general layout would need to be very detailed as this map would need all the corridors crossing each other, otherwise it would be a 1 hallway chokepoint. Wall restricted, 0 res flow so that neither team can get upgraded turets.
Space Station What about something new, A Brenodi Space station, it should look it has been abondoned for years, and it should have Easter Eggs telling you the story behind the Space Station and what caused it to be abandoned(something scary, alliens, decease, supernatural activities, secet experiments, mutants.). It would be massive, it would have a vairety of elavators and staircases, it would have limited lighting forcing you to use your flash light, it would also have to feature broken windows, burned out rooms, collapsed roofs. And ofcourse stuff that makes it look like it dates back from the early times of the Brenodi Empire. When you look outside you could see planet(Similar to the Empires Homeworld, including forests and oceans. But different). It would be located in a small asteroid field surounding the planet. Both factions would arive from a dropship, altough the NF dropship would look like it had crashed into the spaceship, making it look like an excedent. It should also feature flooded areas, anomalies and areas with radiation(wich slowly damages infantry). And cloning Vats wich seem to be broken. It's an idea, I hope you will make it.
It's not a cliche, just make it look like empires but with a scary look. Maybe a massive fire that broke out caused the spaceship to be abandoned. Is a Abandoned Spacestation cliche? Cliche is copying something over and over again, like zombie shooters wich do not offer anything new - cliche. And even though if it's cliche it still can be allot of fun as there is no such kind of map on empires anywhere.
Again, it doesn't make any fucking sense. How the hell did the NF get there? Hmm? It's not new. it's not original. Frankly, it sounds like a building with a fancy design.
