I hate vista...I dont even have to try to install it to know its going to suck. XP is probably the last OS I will ever get from MS, cause I know for a fact Vista is going to be a bitch when it comes to resource hogging.
http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/1651/dt1rq.jpg Warfle, if you're reading this, what map is your desktop picture from? It looks familiar..
Actually, closer to 45 seconds. Hell, it wouldn't have even been that long if I didn't have to go, "Well, the Recycle Bin has a different name, too, but you can just change it normally, can't you? *minimize Firefox, click on the Recycle Bin* *click* *click click click click click* Huuumh." And by the way, I'm with ya on Vista. No operating system should have system requirements that high, and imagine what Aero would do to your RAM once you have a good bunch of windows open...
All I know is that the ONLY thing that should require that much power will be applications and games, NOT the OS. I've never liked the 'ooh and ahh' bs, I stick Win98 all the way as far as graphics go. So if something wants most of my video's RAM just to make the desktop look somewhat better I say its a waste. Maybe the idiots who can justify spending another $700 to upgrade their system just to be able to run games after installing vista will do it, but for me that hardware goes directly to the software that acutally makes use of it.
'Zactly. ...Though I think I'm one of those idiots who blows another $700 dollars on his computer for... Well, anything. >.> Back to desktops, though.
I'l put a few of ones from a year or two back :D ( If you ever wonder why in all my desktop pics I got tons of programs...its what happens when you get alot of space, you do your best to fill it. In this case I could use a 1TB hard drive about now...) And of course the next desktop is when my monitor only supported 800x600@60 hertz ( Because of the piss poor refresh rate I got migranes on a daily basis almost )
Is that really already Vista (beta)? Or some theme/mod for win xp? And if second, where can I get that?
I just took a theme on internet, applied a small program to make bar transparent as I wanted. Then I just applied a small software which really helps me to find my files, he allows to give a colour to the file which we want and takes no resource. What I made consumes no resource, and allows to have a more pleasant interface (to my taste). I puts you some photos of the theme in the job(workstation) and the other files. For info the theme if I do not make a mistake if call(appeal) "Crystal Clear". It is just necessary to get back a DLL to modify who(which) is called "Uxtheme.dll". Personally this DLL not created no problem she just allows to apply some theme that you will put in the file win / resource / theme. Nobody(no) program to put this theme, thus consumes any resource what is very mattering I find compared with many programs which modifies the appearance of Windows. The program which returns the transparent bar is "to transbar ". The program which allows to choose a colour is "Icolorfolder"
Theres a huge set of programs made by Stardock ( same guys that make Gal Civ 2 ) that allows you reskin about every part of windows you can imagine. I used to use it but I got paranoid about it being a system hog and uninstalled it. Heres the link if you want to check out their product line and themes http://www.stardock.com/
