since vehicles have unlimited ammo and shit, how about having ammo boxes and repair pads and armories refill the clips. I don't see anything wrong in this.

Well basically it would increase the DPS of weapons with long or frequent reloads, like nukes, HEMG and rails. Why is that needed?

it also removes a balancing factor from weapons. you just couldnt sit somewhere and spam whatever weapon as any class. actually not even as engineer ...
also fully reloading your railgun took a while iirc

and you had to stand next to an ammobox, armory or reppad ... i think it wasnt all that bad ...

Reloading all 40 shells of the railgun was a pain in the ass. Reloading any cannon fully was a pain in the ass. Reloading a single cannon shell took as long as reloading a clip of MGs or Missiles. It promoted missiles and MGs over cannons in case you survived until your ammo was depleted.

Even though I would have prefered a change in reloading times over infinite ammo, I still think what we have now is far better from the point of balancing then what we had before.

I still think it's fundamentally wrong. If tanks have unlimited ammo, why not infantry.

maybe sprayer i dont know. but i didnt mean to judge whats better, i just wanted to point out that one possibility for balancing changes was removed ...

a better way would be to make for example the apc reload vehicles the same way an armory or reppad would

Infinite ammo seems like a good idea.

i find it interesting that people like the features of the versions they started on the most - it seems like a law of nature, why is that so?
so i ask myself to what extend any of us could judge them objectively ...

Because that is the point of tanks. Their weapons aren't very powerful and are very spammy, so encourage people to use them.

Given that I started on version 1.0something or thereabouts, and its features were comprised of lag, worse models than we have now, lag, no prediction, lag, terrible performance, lag, and horrible maps. I prefer 2.25.

the problem is that most of the people who could judge it objectively dont post in these threads

    like me
i usually dont build and drive tanks
everytime i play i play as infantry because im a terrible tank driver in my opinion
    (thats why i hate emp_vehicletraining...)
so i could only judge them by numbers and theoretical models
but because people would in that case only shout at me "you dont have any clue of what you are talking about!!!" i just dont do it ;P

I started in 2.23 and I love Empty's particles, and found the old ones complete shit, and I like how the rax price was taken down to 200 from 400, which 400 was the 2.23 value. So argument = wrong.

now these guys seem to be a newer bunch that haven't played with the old ass goodies and shit.

odd it allways appeared to be that way to me. whenever anything got changed people that started with the version before complained about the change the most. well maybe its just general conservativism and i just thought id see a pattern ...
