well, you can only blend 2 textures with alphamask, but if you want more, silk figured out a nice (ab)use for overlays as third texture - this should give you nice diversity -> http://forums.empiresmod.com/showpost.php?p=250809&postcount=49
emp_valley was the worst map I've ever played. emp_shadows_rc10a is one of the worst maps I've ever played. emp_urbanchaos is one of the worst maps I've ever played. There is somewhat of a correlation here. Single linear chokepoint maps, are fucking horrible. You should consider adding at least 2 other ways to pass through to the other side, like tunnels through the hills, or anything really. Otherwise, you can enjoy an artillery fest every map.
id say it depends on complexity ... a more or less straight tunnel/cave should work out just fine - a complex underground tunnel system probably wont.
You can ask saunders to play test your map on the 420 server, we've tested some maps on it (harryhoot's and delete's)

I absolutely hate caves and tunnels so I made the hills climbable to infantry but very difficult to climb in a vehicle with a standard engine. My idea going into this was to try and make a map that played like a conquest map but was completely classic in mechanics (emp_valley). Is there something special you do to put the map inside a smaller area? or is it just making a clip barrier around the borders Thank you so much for the comments everyone
Man you are such a genius why hasn't anyone else recreated rts maps for empires. I should go recreate a map from broodwar.

I still need to figure out how to add props like rock formations and random sprites like the grass from tropicvendetta. I have a few props but they don't show up in the compiled map. They're all prop_static entities. I have the current res mults at 4 with the center as 8. I am going to change it to 2, with the center ref having 4. Does that sound better?
