From 2.0 -> 2.24d, was 2.12 the best version overall (vehicles, weapons, research, etc)? If you haven't played 2.12, don't vote. I thought it was. I'm curious if the community agrees.
2.12 had a lot of crashing for me, it seems like it was fun but looking at old screenshots and stuff I realize it wasn't that great
1.073 had best weapon scripts. NFAR was godly but required skill while BEAR was a noobtube. Also it was almost worth playing just for the exploits. Building in comm view, money tanks, LTs with multiple HE arty and nukes, clipping through map, turret climbing, building VFs under map ext Good fun.
Somehow I knew people would miss: "From 2.0 -> 2.24d, was 2.12 the best version overall?" I was referring to weapons, vehicles, research, etc. Stability has certainly been improved.
I really enjoyed 2.12. Engagements with infantry were usually a tossup since each side can easily waste the other, but nerfing infantry over the versions has made my squad leading even more lethal.
You yourself missed whether or not people's opinions are worth considering. They aren't. Proof? I liked 2.2's weapons, and there were no stinkin' MKIIs. (Or were there? Fuzzy memory bad.)
Except escort and district were playable. Infantry combat wasn't crap Tank combat wasn't crap Everything wasnt crap Games ended one way or another.
Good point. Personally, I don't like guns that fire harmless compressed air in a combat FPS where the goal is to kill people. I'm on the fence with escort, but everything else I agree with.
We should probably have a 2.12 pug then remake the poll, that way we can have opinions based on actually playing it rather than nostalgia.
if only 2.12 wouldnt have those horrible bugs, id be for it - you always keep forgetting those ... nonetheless, it played way better than any later version ... 2.24d is somewhat playable, still certain aspects of the game are completely out of balance. im not telling that 2.12 was balanced perfectly, but you cant balance a game by introducing a lot of new features and alter the existing balance dramatically (what has happend after 2.2) anyway, we wont get 2.12 back - hell we are not on the same engine anymore - so the whole thread is pretty much redundant.
