vehicle Turret tracking speed

    CnC turned to shit after Yuri's Revenge.
    Before that tank turrets turned nearly instantly.

    the 100% mousebased turret rotating is totally fit for the empires arcadeish tankbattle style. There are other shitloads of issues, bugs or worse things needs to be fixed, balanced,... but ... THIS ... is definietly ... NOT ... among them.

    There isn't a single game with slow tank turret speed that doesn't force you to start lifting your mouse and planting it back on the mousemat, or remove the fine-element of aiming, which, whilst those games don't need, Empires does.

    We had slow speed, then slow that could be overriden with cvar and then we had (and have) the same as normal mouse look. If you still want to discuss it then I don't care, it won't get changed again.

    empires tanks are fast and "arcady" - that much is fundamental to the game.

    For people(like me) who have a hard time understanding WHY this is such a bad idea:

    making tankturrets move at a set speed depending on their chassi/wieght ect....
    would make lighter tanks more viable late game,
    but not making them any more powerful in the earlier stages of the game.
    Thus making tank warfare a bit more.. uhm... challenging... varied... diverse... w/e.

    Now you might at this point think that "oh well, more diverse tank warfare would lead to better and more exciting gameplay, Empires needs more of that.."
    BUT, apparently a majority of the empires community thinks that any "NEW(technicly old)" ideas that might help the game "progress" is a BAD thing and the game should stay the way it is, so it will slowly die off.

    So yeah, any changes that are anything else than scripts with some random numbers that slightly changes the values of a weapon is BAD thing,
    and you should go die in a fire for even suggesting such a horrid and gamechanging thing.

    vante, even if the turret rotate speed of the lights were at mouse level and the heavy tanks were slower, most people would still choose a heavy over a light.

    WOT sucks donkey dick. I played it for around 2 hours and it's everything I hate in tank game focused in a single package:

    - slow tanks
    - getting raped by people who spent 50/500h more hours
    - 1000000 tank upgrades
    - not seeing the enemy, both when hitting and being hit
    - slow "realistic" aiming

    I won't say that current Empires has everything I wanted but it's far less annoying. Stop WoT on youtube and try to play it, you'll see how awful it is.

    i actually pretty much enjoy it
    the only flaw it has is that the matchmaking puts you into too strong teams too often, buts that seems to happen to all games with matchmaking these days

    strangely it works best at night (from 1 am GMT +1)
    at the day you get too strong opponents mostly

    Yeah the 'aim with mouse and turret tracks to catch up' is in quite a few games and it works well. Although I would make the turret track a bit faster than that personally.

    Something like the UT2004 goliath is pretty good I think. At long/medium range you don't really notice it, but it encourages you to keep a bit of distance during fights as point blank you can't track fast moving vehicles.

    this is because you cant think outside of your box. who says we want it like battlefield where you have to lift the mouse to rotate a turret 360°?
    if the view is decoupled from the aim you can still look around, the tanks barrel will just follow it. all you need is a 2nd "crosshair" ...

    that has nothing to do with limited turret speeds but a colliding barrel ...
