Max, but remember the "top" of the heap is just an abstraction, it could potentially be seen as the bottom.
I can't think of any time the top of a heap becomes the bottom. In every context I've heard, top refers to the root node, regardless of whether you draw it the proper way with the root at the top or the retarded way with the root at the bottom.
So we call it a heap because it's looks like a heap of sand or rice, large on the bottom and tapering towards the top. But we call the top node the root node because everything grows out of it; it forms the base of the heap. Which is at the top. Even though a heap is supported by its bottom. Makes sense, right?
