The beta team of The Ship has been authorized to release screenshots they have made to the public. Therefore, new screenshots have shown up on their forums. For those of you curious about this mod, just head here to see the shots. http://forum.theshiponline.com/showthread.php?t=515
I like the concept of the mod but I felt the execution of it in the HL1 mod was fairly poor. Given the small number of players the original had and the fact that this doesn't seem to add anything majorly different (aside from the price) I can't say I'm too bothered about this game =/
There's a singleplayer campaign coming for the retail version and for a small fee through steam. Yet, not my kind of game. I like to stand knee-deep in other peoples blood and guts with rocket launcher in my hand. Oh and I also like Empires. :p
The HL1 version was a proof of concept. This isn't some mod, this is a full blown game on Source... or that's what I've heard. Me likes more violent deathmatch.
I'm having a hard time not giving this a preorder. $15 isn't out of even my range, and The Ship original had lots 'o potential, I just rarely found enough players to give it a fair try. It seems as if this incarnation will have at least a hundred or so players at launch, and with a dedicated company behind the scenes, it looks like it could be a blast. At the very least, it'll be something very different, and what's wrong with that?
There's nothing wrong in different. The gameplay sounds fun, but I'm waiting for a demo personally. Something worth peeking at I guess...
I played this thing while it was still was beta testing; its totaly useless... I cant belive they are charging for this ><;; there are alot better mods that desrve to get paid to play...
Joining a thread just to blindly and rudely scream... ...Is unappropriate. Maybe "troll" was the wrong word, but I don't appreciate it nevertheless. Just because I don't neccesarily enforce against being a blatant asshole doesn't mean it won't be frowned upon. By that logic, Empires is just as worthless, let's not forget that. >;P
And just for the record, because I forgot to mention it, this isn't a mod. Outerlight have their own license to Source, and this is a standalone product.
I see nothing blind about his opinion. I actually agree with it, even the scam bit. Just because he's more blunt than anyone else was, is no reason to jump on him. The last line didn't even make sense so can't really comment on that =/
I called it blind because it was baseless and uninformed. To me, that's a flame. Posting in a thread just for the sake of calling names, without even giving as much as an explanation as to why you feel that why, aka: a constructive post. It's fine that we have different opinions, I respect that. But it's obvious that he was more interested in calling names and putting down the game than he was in actually giving his opinion. Maybe I shouldn't jump his bones, but I did, and I stick to it. Well, you might have missed what I was quoting. He played the beta (didn't mention if it was HL1 or Source) and decided the game was useless. That's pretty unfair, especially coming from the Empires forum, where first release was unplayable and unbalanced. That's what I was getting at.
I speak my mind, my state of opinion at risk of offending others, it can suck at times but it's the honest way, I don't care if you agree or disagree, it won't change it for me, that's why it's my opinion.
