One time on canyon, i prone sprinted all the way from our base (BE) in top right, to the bottom left, where the enemy (NF) had their base. I sabotaged a few turrets, and crawled to the only barracks. I sabotaged it, and proceeded to the refinery. Then, the comm, who had his CV behind the barracks, came out and shot me. He saw the purple smoke :/
If you ask me, the mortar sucks. If not, what am I doing wrong? I get more kills with the pistol, in melee, on mvalley... (I don't understand why you spawn with both mortar and RPG. How about having to choose between the two? Anti-infantry or anti-vehicle? That would require a less crappy mortar though.)
The mortar just takes lots of practice. Join a server with dubee grapehead and then tell me that the mortar sucks.
Wow. One of the few one-hit-kill weapons sucks? I've heard the Mortar being called "overpowered", "mowtar" (as in mowing down the enemy), but "sucks" - that's a new one. In fact, aren't there threads around suggesting nerfing it even more?
pretty origional though chahk.. mowing people down... catchy. but yeah, the mortar is an AMAZING weapon if you're good with it. when you're good enough to guess the range accuractely, you'll love the gun.
i once proned also to the enemy base and made all their stuff go green, then the comm got out and i shot him, and shot him, and shot him, until a tank rolled over me. I then repeated that process and then we had 3 tanks roll in and push the comm and that made their assault return to their base! i also like to crawl next to an art tank and throw the sticky nades on him and then the tank looks back n fourth but it twas to late.. i already was hiding. However i still have trouble getting ma headshots with the scout. i seem to do better with the rifleman... idk if it's me but are the turrets squareish for like blocking an engineer... I've put like 8 shots into an engineer and it won't drop them.. and sometimes while im prone and they're proned i can't get a shot to damage them either...
I was playing on that map that is just one winding street with a sewer, I forget the name, when I learned the full, terrible, power of the mortar. With the two teams in a deadlock in the center, both sides had troops huddling up together behind the wrecked tanks in the street to avoid the snipers. I took out a mortar and began firing saflely from cover...once I had the spot behind the enemy tank ranged, it was all over. My first hit gave me five kills, the next shot two more. then my teammates siezed the initative and pushed forward. After a half hour stalemate, our team was victorious in minutes. Fear and respect the mortar!
