    After the clusterfuck of last test, we're hoping that the majority of those issues are fixed. We'll show up, flick through everything, make sure it works, and just generally be sure that the game is ready for a full-scale playtest the Saturday after.

    That bug won't get held back, we just want to see if the fuck tonne of shit that we've reverted has fixed it. But it will get fixed before release.

    I don't actually know what server you joined, the test server wasn't up. It is now though, and I've updated the first post with the server details.

    Preset issues seem to be one of the last outstanding problems, and we're starting to think it's something with the GCFs messing up, which is why some people get it, and some don't. If we can work that out, we'll do another midweek test, and then a full playtest on Saturday.

    well using svn empires it seems fine. I will try a fresh new download of testpires later to see if thats working as well.

    Yeah, that's exactly my point. SVN Empires isn't using GCFs, Steampires is. Sometimes it works on Steampires, sometimes it doesn't. When Empires creates vehicles, it edits the preset scripts and builds it off them. Steampires Test version is essentially refusing to allow any changing of those files, or at least, not allowing them to be overwritten, so it's just building the default vehicles every time. We just need to work out why it won't write to them. We can see differences in the GCF files in comparison with regular steam version, such as encryption and backup allotment, but upon changing this didn't prompt an update to be passed to clients.

    When Beerdude is around, he should be able to sort it out, he has a better handle on the terrible steam publishing tool than anyone else.

    I just tested testpires and it worked fine for vehicles. I was able to customize.

    Also on the note of everything jumping... I don't know if anyone has noted this before but, the objects don't vibrate... its the player that is rattling up and down. Watch the edge of a building and you will see that it is firmly rooted to the ground and you do not see stretching of bits or extra bits show up, yet everything still seems jumpy. The only explination I can think of is the player is doing it. And again... this jumping up and down.... only seems to happen for me when in testpires... not in empires.

    So I'm not the only one who noticed that. This has been in Empires for a long time but I only ever experienced it when I made my own LAN server (but not in the current version, just tested it). Did it happen to you during the test?

    ya its been in here a long time... but, I have never noticed it until I started trying the sourcepires tests. All the tests before this version I never had this issue... only the source tests have this for me. Again... the current normal empires that everyone plays does not do that for me. no vibrating shit... just the test versions.
