Split Mine into AP and AT Mines

    this community doesn't have any problem with camping, that's why the HMG is alive and well (in fact stamina drain while firing was reduced in the last patch - LOL). It's just that a vocal minority which included one dev doesn't like the scout rifle and got their way over the rest of the empires community.

    anyway, you're exactly right. the det pack could be set off immediately for building damage, or it could be actively watched (camped) to set it off for kills. this would basically force grens to choose between doing shit to kill people and help their team or sitting staring at a little box waiting for someone to run by it. Right now, they can have their cake and eat it.

    Detpacks just sound stupid to me.

    Mines are fine, nothings wrong with them except they can't kill shit.

    I think detnocharges should be replaced with Timed charges

    Gren is bad enough at everything as it is.
    We should be buffing him not nerfing him

    Mines are so broken it's painful to read you write this. Mines are the only tool that can completely deny infantry access to certain buildings or areas of the map without active participation of at least one person. Examples? Homelands (flag building and areas around it), Crossroads (top of N/S buildings, vital for central map control) Escort, District, and Urbanchaos (all gay maps, but true nonetheless), Arid (middle flag, double res) Snowbound (nuke rooms and BE door controls - gay map but included for the sake of thoroughness), streetsoffire (any interior area, the tops of a few of the buildings) and I'm sure I'm missing a few but I want to finish this in a timely fashion.

    BUT PICKLED_HERETIC LOL, U CAN JUST SWITCH TO GREN W/ DEFUSAL AND COUNTER IT LOL
    i can already hear you scream. This is fucking bullshit. I can't switch classes on the go, and I shouldn't be forced to switch to one specific class to counter one specific class's ability which doesn't even require active participation for them to use! No other class's ability is so incredibly gay that it forces someone to switch to their class just to counter them; there's always a workaround. Except for gren mines.

    also, inb4 bugged dig in skill.

    if the mowtar/rpg did more damage, people would play gren more. simple fucking solution. allowing the overpoweredness of mines to persist in order to keep the gren a viable class is like giving the scout a lazor pistol to compensate for the fact that everything else the scout has sucks.

    Both would set off the mines but come out of it with minor damage

    I would like it if they were the same that way your enemy can't tell the difference

    No, but it still counts toward your max

    AP mines are better suited for confined spaces and along walls, AT mines is suited for open areas and Vehicle choke-points
    For District mines are ready being used in confined spaces (alleyways, sewers) and the same in Escort (inf. only areas) but with AT mines at choke-points
    In other words, same as it is now, for these two maps

    I've never had a building locked down by mines, you can always jump over them and in the like 2 cases in the entire mod you can't, just grab a gren and defuse them manually, or a revivegeneer and gain some free points.

    The mines aren't the reason I play gren, grens RPG and mortar are useable, they're just shit compared to what other classes can do.

    Switch to gren and get defusal, like you switch to scout to find hidden scouts
    inside your base, you switch to rifleman to kill the long range rifle whore and
    you switch to engineer to counter the wall/turret building engineer.

    Every class in empires is countered by the class that causes the problem.

    Well if the grenadiers doesnt have a special ability at (E) button we could put a new ability on it (attach mines) which allows the gren to attach a mine to a building or tank if hes close enough and blew so he wont need to place it near them and blew with it. (Idea from scout sabotage ability)

    The hitbox for them is so small that oftentimes you miss them by accident.

    you "don't miss" them enough to make it a serious issue.

    Every time I encounter a gren, rifleman, scout, or engineer, a potentially epic battle will ensue to determine who is the victor, who lives and who dies, who builds a rax or kills another engineer or kills a tank. dying to a mine invokes no such encounter. mines are bad for gameplay, mines should be removed. failing that, they should at least be reduced in effectiveness, instead of being 1 hit kills.

    Whenever I run into another class, we either immediately gun eachother down in 0.2 seconds, or if we're both grens, have an epic pistol reloading duel, in which the BE guy always loses because the BE pistols are useless.

    It's a game, you will die, sometimes it will be fair, sometimes it will not be fair, mines are to slow a rush down, and if you think you should be able to overcome every possible situation in a multiplayer FPS you're kidding yourself.

    uh, I know whether or not I live or die makes a huge difference in the game. If you played with me you'd know that. I know there's a small group of players that share the same opinion, and unlike all of the devs and IRC junkies, we actually play this game on a regular basis.
