Split Mine into AP and AT Mines

    Split mine into Anti-Personal and Anti-Tank Mines, self explanatory. One kills a person, the other kills a tank (note: it takes more than one AT mine to kill a tank) but, both can be set off by a person or a tank.

    Also give the grenadier a demo-charge so he can destroy buildings up-close :D (note: just like AT mines, takes more than one to kill).

    The gren. has a choice between AP, AT mines or demo-charges. ;)

    Hey, great idea, let's fucking debuff mines some more ok?

    I hate this idea.

    Hey, mines already do jack shit against tanks, let's make it so that you may not even able to do that small jackshit damage because you have selected infa mines.

    how about buffing and spiting-em at the same time, that way, it increase there power but you have to select the correct one for the job.

    This is an idea that I have had for a long time, and one that I promote every opportunity I can.

    It's a nerf to mines, which is a good thing, because mines are fucking gay. mines are literally the only tool in the game that can consistently get you kills and points without actually doing anything requiring any skill.

    Unfortunately, most of the community disagrees with me, and in fact some people even want to see defusal nerfed (which is fucking retarded, IMO) so this idea is not likely to ever be adopted.

    Mines are basically useless for everything except preventing engineers driving light tanks through certain areas.

    no, I'm not kidding, mines are gay and they should be removed altogether in favor of something that requires interaction to use, like det packs or something.

    I abuse mines like everyone else, I put them on ladders and in doorways where people can't jump over them or in bushes where they can't be seen, they're way too powerful and I would be so happy to see them removed altogether. Unfortunately I know this can't happen so I'm willing to accept any nerf the community is willing to accept.

    you'd have to place them and set them off manually. not necessarily skill per se (though a more skillful person would more effectively utilize det packs than a less skillful person) but at the very least it requires active participation, something pretty much everything else in empires requires (except for turrets, which are practically worthless).

    Anyway, I'm not here to hijack this thread, if you want to continue this argument send me a private message or talk to me ingame (you won't find me on mIRC because I actually play empires).

    det-packs don't kill buildings alone unless you can get another gren w/ det-packs as well or do it with a scouts sabotage or a engs nads/decon/ammoz

    if we're okay with talking about det packs for a while, I think they'd make a good replacement for mines. Grens lack a way to do good damage against buildings ever since the resistances have gone in and det packs would fill this role well.

    Can I get a person to run through the anti-tank minefields and drive jeeps over the anti-personnel minefields?

    Do you want to be able to tell which is which with different models, or does having one model just add to the confounding mystery?

    If I select a different type of mine, do all my previous mines disappear?

    What effect would this have on a grenadier in a classic map when deciding which mine type to use? (And for that matter, would this have any effect in District or Escort?)

    I guess we can make the ap mines combined with the AT mines and just insert detno instead :P would that work?

    what this basically lets you do is nerf the AP portion of mines (the broken part, IMO) without letting them lag too badly against vehicles.

    Here's an example of how I'd start off with balance: 4 mines max for both types, AP mines do 80 damage with a decent splash and are set off by both tanks and infantry, AT mines do 300+ with very little splash and are set off only by tanks. There'd be a visual difference between them if someone took a second to look, but from a distance they'd be hard to tell apart.

    Detpacks to me just say "mines but you camp instead of place and forget"

    Placing a mine takes as much skill as a detpack, you just don't have to sit around camping like a scout with the sniper rifle
