Slow Spawnpoint Commander

    Make the Commander as slow as infantry sprinting speed and also make the Command vehicle act as a mobile spawn point. xD

    Interesting idea.

    But the number of egoistic boomtankers is much higher here at the forums as on the game servers.
    And because of that you will only see rejection, because they don't want to loose their toy.

    I can see this leading to a different kind of boomtanking, rather than removing it. Instead of being used to run over infantry the CV would scoutspeed to a contested area and act as a high health spawnpoint with the advantage that it can always retreat if the enemy fire is too great.

    But then the commander will always have his team around him and dies not alone. :confused: :confused: :confused: :D :confused: :confused: :confused:

    How this will change the strategy is difficult to say. If the developers would implement this, I would suggest to enable it only by cvar. Default should be current mode.
    Or maybe just enable this for some special maps. Maybe for an escort like gameplay?

    This would work with the strong armor/weak hull where the CV starts with no armor idea. If the CV boomtanks in the beginning, he dies.

    If you combine it with infantry speed commanders, then yeah, this is fine.
    Blizzerd even has an infantry speed engine that climbs hills.

    Implement plz

    You should turn the CV into a spawn vehicle when the hull gets to 20%. That would be a fucking epic win or lose.

    Nah.. I don't think anything this drastic should be added to the mod. But I do like the idea of less selfish boom tanking that often ruins games.

    Slow CV with fucktons of armor.

    Removes:
    -Gay Boomtanking
    -Ninjaing (I mean FUCKTONS OF ARMOR)
    -Endgame 20 minute races

    .....perhaps infantry sprint speed is too slow, but what I mean is for the Command Vehicle to be the slowest vehicle. Fast enough to move from base to base and outrun infantry, but not fast enough to boomtank or avoid enemy tanks without support. By making the CV a mobile spawnpoint, the Commander can still support the team and also be able to fall back and build some defenses quickly. Basically, instead of the CV's main defence being high health and excessive mobility, the CV always has teammate support.

    I don't think that that would be as bad as current boomtanking, though. You're not going to be at as much risk (in fact, you can't put yourself at as much risk, because your team can always spawn and help you.) And you're working with your team, not just running around on your own.

    So I could see that, possibly, as a good thing.

    It'd be a fairly drastic change to the game, though, either way. It's an interesting idea... it would give the comm a lot more 'control', especially early on, since by moving the CV you could basically move the focus of your team.
